We have close to the highest effective tax rate in the country but some of the worst infrastructure. 10+% sales tax, income tax, property tax, all add up to politicians buddies with contracts and entitlements for voters. I have zero confidence taxes will pay for shite. The toll route is the ONLY way this ever gets done.

People in Shreveport and Monroe don't want to pay for a new bridge in BR. Although this is short sighted and provincial, it's a problem. Tolls are the only solution. I'm not sure what the holdup is. (I mean, other than pissant politicians in WBR and Iberville fighting over where to put the bridge.)
