It is fricking sad that as much money comes through our ports that we are last or second to last in anything in this state.

I am also seriously considering leaving as well

We have a large, close family. If not for them, I'd be gone. I almost left before kids and couldn't do it after. As for now, Ascension schools are strong and my wife and I both have good jobs.

Haven't lived in La since I got out of college.

Lived on both coasts and now live in Texas.

I love visiting La but every time I'm there I'm glad I don't have to live there.

I'm close to La now and can visit more often but Texas is pretty awesome right now.

Come on down to the H-Town. And you're only a 4 hour drive from the 225.

Nashville is lacking on jobs/economy. Then you have the whole middle age men singing pop music. Tampa (actual downtown Tampa) is booming, and will see a ton of growth the next decade. The Rays are trying to find a downtown spot there. Add them to the Lighting and you have a fun area. I have been trying to talk the wife into moving. Also, NW Atlanta is an awesome place to raise a family. You have mountains, nice weather, and the Braves all right there. The job market in Atlanta is one of the best in the country. Not O&G dependent like Houston. Good luck.

I left LA 15+ years ago, and I would never move back. Got to get past the whole family thing. It's tough, but doable.

My wife and I moved and couldn't be happier. Sure, it was hard leaving family and friends but nowadays it's easy to stay close. Now the expense of everything is a different story..

Curious, what areas in Tampa are the best for a mid 30s couple with two kids?

So you've lived outside of the 225 area code but need to know what it's like not living in Baton Rouge?
