long term, you believe there will be some sort of innovation that will make things all better.
Without a doubt.
I think innovation beyond the internet is likely.

firmly believe the currently existing giant ISPs will still have full control, for a number of reasons that have been posted in this thread already.
Regulation protects large, well capitalized industry.
If you read both sides of this net neutrality issue, you'll find opposition to throttling is a small part of the fight.

again, this is vague, and a different discussion when it comes to the web. Explain to me, in your opinion, how the currently regulated internet is a bad thing for me as a consumer. I'm genuinely curious.
Not to mention, that's a bold comment. It's not as black and white as that when it comes to regulation/deregulation. There are plenty of examples where regulation has protected more than large, well capitalized industry.

No it's not. How many times do I have to tell you that other refs contained in the law are the problem for many telecoms? It's a huge part of the dissent. The throttling issue a small a standalone would have far less opposition
Hey, should search engines be allowed to charge more for exposure?

How is it bad or how could it be better?

What a stupid, trite response.

either or both
What do you want, more regulation or competition/innovation? You're not getting both

Yep. The people who can barely type into a search engine and chew gum at the same are the most in favor of this bulshit
Just lol

And what does the current regulatory framework do to stifle that?
What does abolishing net neutrality do to facilitate that?

No that's actually the truth, thanks for your input.

this is probably the best article I can find on these subjects without having to take the time to write a novel.

well I'm not advocating for more regulation. I'm advocating for things to stay the same.
You can't with a straight face say that net neutrality has hindered net innovation.
Unless of course you narrowly define innovation.
not to mention you seem to favor cheaper internet (not proven this would happen) over consumer protection.

Because we're treating it now as a public utility. Public utilities have no incentive to innovate or even encourage competition

The loss of net neutrality will rape frick this country.
Its an unspeakable outrage and it cannot be allowed to happen.
If they allow ISPs to dictate traffic based on their own hidden agendas we should March to the FCC and burn those mother frickers to the ground.
As if dealing with ISPs isn't already one of the worst companies anyone ever has to deal with this will only make it so so much worse.

Consumer "protection" isn't always what it seems to be. Dynamic markets leading to innovation have been FAAAR more beneficial than protectionist policies which serve as barriers to entry.
