It's crazy the size of this dude. A star was born last night. Not a big Yankee fan but I will always root for the beast called Judge.

If you think a star was born last night you're either an idiot or haven't been paying attention like at all.

He already holds the all time record for the Yankees for homeruns in a season by a rookie. Think about the players the Yankees have had. He did this before the All Star break.

Many of the All Time Great Yankees weren't Rookie Yankees

True, but it was a rookie season record that this DiMaggio guy held for 81 years that has been broken by the All-Star break. No big deal.

No idea about his history but was he known in Yankee circles as a future superstar or just one of those random 20 something round draft picks that just flipped the switch?

Of all the "Yankee greats" that have had their numbers retired, only three weren't rookies with the Yankees.

Maris, Reggie Jackson, and of course Babe Ruth.

Maris hit 14 HR his rookie season with Cleveland, Reggie Jackson only hit 1 with the A's, and Ruth only had 4, but he was still primarily a starting pitcher.

That's not counting the managers that have had numbers retired.

That stat illustrates how great DiMaggio was. Yankee Stadium was notoriously brutal for right-handed power hitters. Left Center Field was over 450 feet from home plate and Right CF was well over 400 feet from home plate. It was virtually impossible for RH hitters to hit HRs to those alleys yet DiMaggio was still able to produce tremendous power numbers.

Babe Ruth is the only one that comes to mind who didn't start his career with NY. Mantle, Dimaggio, Gehrig, Berra,Mattingly so forth.

Good prospect, but not an elite one. Lots of questions about his ability to make contact...now he's third in the league in batting average

For the record, the rookie HR record for a player that at one point in his career was a Yankee is Jose Canseco with 33.

Just ahead of Chris Young with 32.

Dude has been dominating all season and was pretty talked about coming into it. I dont think a star was necessarily born last night, but rather the casual fans that dont tune in day to day got to see this dude put on a show.

He was born a few months ago when he started dominating pro ball, not because he won a fake competition.

That star that you think was born last night was the leading vote-getter in the American League for this year's all-star game. In fact, the only player that received more votes than him was Bryce Harper

Many if not most were though, it is just a recent trend (80's on) Tey Yankee greats they mention are comparing him to played in the 20's to 60's.
