Who has pitched in Omaha?
June 17, Game 1: Alex Lange (6 IP), Jared Poche (2.2 IP), Zack Hess (0.1 IP)
June 19, Game 2: Eric Walker (2 IP), Caleb Gilbert (2.2 IP), Nick Bush (0.1 IP), Todd Peterson (0.2 IP), Hunter Newman (1.0 IP), Matthew Beck (1.0 IP), Austin Bain (0.1 IP), Russell Reynolds (1.0 IP)
June 21, Game 3: Jared Poche (8 IP), Zach Hess (1 IP)
June 23, Game 4: Alex Lange (7.1 IP), Zack Hess (1.2 IP)
June 24, Game 5: Caleb Gilbert (7.1 IP), Zack Hess (1.2 IP)
Any insight on this decision? Like, a legit reason? I would hate for Reynolds to get ripped apart in the first inning and then we empty the bullpen the rest of the game leaving us with some issues for Games 2 and 3

Maddux is going to possess his body for the game. Best guess

Seriously, who else is available to pitch?
Posted on 6/26/17 at 3:57 pm to tadelatt
Because we have had a lot of pitcher attrition lately.
Latz never developed, got hurt and left the program.
Other pitchers left or never made it to campus.
Walker and Peterson are hurt and cannot pitch.
Poche, Gilbert and Lange have pitched over 100 pitches thelast three games and not available.
Hess has pitched 3 games straight and likely not available.
So that is all we have left. Whether he pitches today or tomorrow it does not matter what order. That is all we have left and we have a shortage of pitchers no matter how you slice it or what order they pitch in.

Peterson doesn't have his best according to CPM
Idk why not Bain but CPM knows his team better and he sees them

In the press conference PM let Sully select who LSU was going to start in the first game. Sully said he wanted Reynolds to start because he would call him a pussy if he didn't.

I agree...why aren't we pitching Nola? He hasn't pitched for us in a while...should be ready to go

I don't know that we "know" why. The story is - CPM asked all of the other pitchers "who wants the ball" and Reynolds asked for it the loudest.
He's a 5th year Senior. I think this is actually a Johnny WholeStaff game.
I was thinking Poche' would pitch on 4 days rest. MLB pitchers every 5th day.
But... Gilbert, and Lange aren't available. Poche' tomorrow and Walker is hurt.
The other option was Todd Peterson but they're saying he's got a sore arm.

Having arm issues and not making the grades, nothing to do with not developing. Kid was a day 1 pick...

Florida is not a great hitting team for starters. They were going to have to go with whole staff approach either game one or game two this way if it doesn't work LSU has advantage next two games. If it does work and they steal one Just soon give them the trophy. If the gators are beating LSU bad then you will see the arms you saw the first game against Oregon State. He isn't going to but his top guys unless he has a legitimate shot to win the ballgame.

Because he's primed and ready for this big moment in his life. He's a life-long Tiger, a five year program guy and he's ready to hold the rope. You will see .
