Sorry, you're question reminded me of a scene from Shawshank Redemption. Carry on.

I'd plan a very nice vacation with the family. Maybe even invite said relatives along.

Help the kids out with college, take a nice family vacation, fund your Roths, pay off the 2k credit card.

How do you have credit card debt but no mortgage?

It's only $2,000...probably what he spends on a monthly basis and just pays it off on the 1st.

That's a down payment on two $75k rental properties.

College funding is already in place, scholarships, student loans???
The kids may have already spoken for your $30K windfall.
If not, I'd clear up whatever that credit card debt is, make sure that you have a practical emergency fund and use the balance to fund your Roth IRAs over the next couple of years. Between you and the wife, that would probably probably take care of that amount. It wouldn't hurt to give some to your church or a charity either.

OK, so it sounds like your basic finances are in order. Depending on your goals for the future and your investment knowledge/background, why not look at a good mix of low cost, growth mutual funds or ETFs?
I'm not sure about your original question. Are you looking for asset classes or industry sectors? Someone suggested real estate. Are you a real estate guy? It's not for everyone. But it can be great if you are.
