We have 3 starting pitchers that if they are "on"...are very difficult to beat.

My only concern, especially considering some of the sloppy play recently, is that the players MAY come into this super a bit complacent because of the sweep a few weeks ago.

That is entirely possible.

I feel like it's being overlooked that you nailed the proper spelling of "loose" and "lose". That's a rarity on the Rant.

Respect.

Exactly. I understand the logic behind the thought process but I don't think it will have any bearing on this series. LSU is hotter now than they were in Starkville. Their confidence is sky high.
State will go to the box 'trying' to be confident with the revenge factor but they will ultimately limp home.
If you wanna talk about the law of statistics and averages, both Lange and Poche had rough outings, the defense looked bad too in the first two games. What are the chances on that happening again?

LSU is not at a disadvantage vs Miss State BUT in a short, three-game series, either team could win two of the games.

Miss State will know that they can win this Super Regional.

It's a common fallacy. Similar to the theory that you should lose a game before going into the playoffs because you are "due to lose".

If State was the inferior team from their regional then it benefits LSU to play them regardless of how many times they have played before and what the record was.

Gambler's fallacy at work. It's true that having played MSU before will affect preparations for the Super (on both sides), but they aren't any more "due" for a win just because they got swept before. By that logic, MSU beat us in the series in BR last year, so we're due for a series win against them at the Box.

Msu can play loose with nothing to lose, they are playing with house money. All the pressure is on us.

I think that notion is overrated. State wants to make it to Omaha just as bad as we do. Sure, they have exceeded expectations, but when you're a program like State and make it to the supers, you have pressure to make it to Omaha as well.

Baseball, more than most sport, seems like an odds game. :/

I indeed noticed his dominant grammatical prowess. He would dominate any English course. It is neither here nor there, but people somehow think they're not noticed when their grammar is spot on. They should hear about it.

I am worried about this weekend. I hate that I feel this way, but I have played plenty of ball, and know that the breaks and bounces and whatnot tend to even out. This does not bode well for us.
However, I do also believe if Lange shows up and pitches his best stuff -we take game one and to me that right there is the key for the weekend. What Lange do we get?

I see it as a clean slate. LSU is, no doubt, a better team. Whoever wants it more will win.

Miss State does not have an advantage.

Repeats are pretty common in baseball so I don't think there's any effect from it unlike in college football where it is pretty rare from what I can recall, except when ESPN talking heads and the power brokers in Tuscaloosa/Birmingham are allowed to promote their "pick."

Maybe for two evenly matched teams, which this matchup isnt.

Its weird, but his ability to separate the proper four letter word from the five letter form is a sight to behold on this site.

Yes it does. We are the better team so if the breaks and bounces are even, it's less likely that one of them will cause us to lose.

I think most people are referring to baseball's law of averages. LSU is the favorite, no one will despute that. But it is had to take 5 of 6 from a team in a year. I think that's all that they are alluding to on the rant. Regardless, gonna be a fun one in BR

I think what worries me the most about State is that while everybody says they have no pitching, they somehow managed to string enough together to win 4 games in 2 days. That's a bit concerning.
