The masses is impossible to do directly. I think you just try to be the best and most generous person you can and hope others join you.
On the government side, for the individual it starts with dropping the partisan bullshite and being open and respectful when you get a discourse going. Then you start getting people to think about how to best address problems. You also get people with different perspectives to poke holes in your solutions and they slowly get better. This difference between here and the masses is we have something tangible to work through.
I don't expect some sweeping change where people stop the team politics and have respectful and constructive discussions. That's a recipe to be disappointed. The hope is maybe, just maybe, a few more people jump in and we get marginally better ideas and results.
