They could've layered more cement over the name or did what others have said and made it look a hell of a lot better than that. Mitch is pissed that everyone isn't licking his a$$ with this campaign and is taking the "by any means" necessary approach. What a loser...

Wouldn't that be fun?

I would say he was improving a nuisance.

Statute removers by night, hurricane prep team by morning. We can't do anything without our fearless leaders.

The city of Mitch's dreams addresses Statues and plaques but not education, crime, or poverty.
The city of his dreams is his own personal monument to himself.

No one in that picture looks in the least bit happy to be there with him.

A change of heart, a forgotten man -- Beauregard fought hard to preserve the Old South, including the institution of slavery. But after the war his reputation as a hero of the Confederacy was forever damaged by his outspoken work for human rights. As part of a coalition of prominent white and black New Orleanians, he not only argued to give black people voting rights but also pushed for integrated schools, public places and transportation.
"I am persuaded that the natural relation between the white and colored people is that of friendship," Beauregard said in an address published in July 1873 in newspapers including The New Orleans Republican and The Daily Picayune. "I am persuaded that their interests are identical; that their destinies in this state, where the two races are equally divided, are linked together; and that there is no prosperity for Louisiana which must not be the result of their cooperation.
"I am equally convinced that the evils anticipated by some men from the practical enforcement of equal rights are mostly imaginary, and that the relation of the races in the exercise of these rights will speedily adjust themselves to the satisfaction of all."
good thing we got his bastard's statue down

It's not about history or racism or slavery.
It's about power and facism.
Mitch just said in his press conference only the statues are coming down including Lee. Only the statues.
So he's just going to leave these pedestals and shite all over the city.
No thought or care about how they look or the damage he caused or the way he makes these places look like blighted shite.

Brutal.
Rather than defend this man or show who he was or why his statue is there or his legacy, instead we just tore it down and erased him because the absolute pinnacle of hypocritical ignorance and facism is currently occupying the office of Mayor of New Orleans

seems like Mitch was desperate to have his legacy remembered for something and this was it.
Nationally it seems to be playing out well for him, which is basically the Landrieu way.....sell out the will of the locals to further your own career.
