Great response by the student in that video.
^^^ This is why there will never be a racial reconciliation. You actually believe the student was in the right.

It's a great response to someone saying it an derogatory fashion (ironically or not) but we have no idea if that's the context in which the word was used.
Was the teacher having a lesson on the word, it's use, it's history, etc? Or was the teacher just casually dropping n-bombs towards his students? Huge fricking difference.

Sure I would, if only to, like the teacher in the video, use it as a way to demonstrate the hypocrisy of its "ownership" by one group.

Exactly what I'm saying. It's way too offensive and risky to just casually say, even if the lesson is presumably on word usage or whatever. The teacher knew exactly what the response would be so I don't feel sorry for him. This is a high school class, not a graduate school seminar on race relations

Did you even watch the one minute video? Although the student may have cursed earlier he was quite calm and very well spoken in the video .

I'm so shocked that people on here are defending the use of the n word. Shocked.

Tell this to the multitude of over-indulged kids who abuse it everyday.

I watched an undisciplined, over-animated teenager exploding over the free speech of his teacher.
ETA: The problem is that you actually believe your "truth" about this situation to be in the right. Cognitive dissonance is telling.

I'm certainly not defending it's use (and also not surprised that people on the OT are defending its use). I'm more criticizing the reaction to the word if and when it's used in a completely academic context. I have no idea if that's the case here, because the video didn't pick up the first use of the word that sparked this controversy.

That's not the video he's talking about.

The real meaning of some popular code words used by liberals today,
Tolerance = Complete silence of whites
Equality = Special Rights
Diversity = Chasing down the last white person

You can be calm and well spoken while still being a hypocrite.

it was the video in the NOLA article . . . WTH are you talking about?
Posted on 5/4/17 at 6:10 pm to CapperVin
The teacher is an idiot and should be fired. I don't think that him saying the "N" word means he is definitely a racist, but it does prove that he is a moron.

Ben Franklin kids have notoriously rough upbringings. They know true oppression.
