There is quite a bit of research showing psychedelics, which ketamine can be, help with depression. Hydrocodone also can help short term depression but it was moved to schedule 2 because it can be highly addictive. These two drugs are nothing alike and ketamine for depression would most likely be used in a medical setting under the supervision of a professional. To compare these drugs is silly.

I see it being over prescribed. Everything new is. However, it is truly kept schedule 1 and hence very restricted, I understand how it could help those worst cases.

But there isn't big money in that. Works for one? Bet it works for all. Studies start on outpatients. Then GP clinic settings.

It's a stretch but rename ketamine and or combine it with an old SSRI. Combo med
