I have an ornamental pear tree in my front yard which has a lawn swing under it. The bats were gone for a year or so, and just showed back up a few nights ago. That seems to be the only tree they care about. As long as they don't bother me, I won't bother them.

Had some living in columns on porch deck. Had some guy come out that chases off creatures for a living. He put some nets above the columns where they could fly out but the net holes were small enough that they can't really find their way back to them (or something like that). Anyways for first couple of days they would fly out and the net threw them off so they would crash into the house then fly off. They didn't come back. He came back a week later and sealed the holes in the columns and they are gone. Interesting guy to talk to. He is who all the pest control guys around here call.

If I knew he lived in a tree I wouldn't care either. I literally have no trees except for a few crepe myrtles in the gardens which are young and not very full at all. I think I'd see something if they were nestled in one of those trees. I didn't think about the chimney as someone else said. Unfortunately there's a deadly angle on the roof there and no way I can get up there to see.

Had a bat somehow get in my house a few months back. It went nuts and kept flying in circles around my living room. Opened the front door and when it came around to me, I hit it with a broom towards the door. Sadly, the bat went behind the door instead of through it, hit the wall, and died.

Have you noticed less mosquitos around your house?

I've been debating on getting one of those bat houses and Bat Attracter spray for the backyard. I'm not sure if it will actually make a difference.

They dive bombed your pool to drink water. It's pretty cool to watch, they swoop down and skim the water and drink on the fly.

The mosquitos haven't been too bad, but I can't really say if the bat(s) made any difference or not. And I'm just guessing he's eating mosquitos because everyone else says that.

Ours were living in the attic vent. Thankfully it still have the wire on the inside to keep them out of the house. The biggest thing is their crap is pretty toxic and you'll want someone to clean it out for you. Also, in Georgia you can't remove them for several months in the summer because it's the gestation period and you have to wait until September to have them removed.

If you have bats living in or on your house odds are you'll smell bat shite and piss. If you don't they are probably roosting elsewhere.

Also, what kind of bugs it is eating depends on what kind of bat it is. The smaller bats will eat mosquitoes but most bats actually eat moths and other larger bugs. Even then, while small bats will eat mosquitoes they end up only being a small part of the bat's diet. This is mostly due to the fact that mosquitoes don't really swarm which makes it difficult for bats to focus on them.

I see dozens of them right at dusk in front of my house certain times of the year.

They eat a ton of insects including mosquitos.

I have a bat house my dad made from some plans he found on the net. Counted around 90 come out one night a few weeks ago. Probably more by now.

They do shite and piss a lot though, glad I have it away from the house.

We've had them in our attic twice. Expensive as hell to remediate.

I had a fricking colony living in the soffit between the bricks and interior. First time was only 20 or so and the bat guy put up this one way exit and sealed the exterior. They left only to return to other side of the house with an additional 50 or so friends. Same process to remove.. During this time, I had 5 get in the house.. Killed 3, one flew out and I captured one and let it go..

The most effective method was taken from the Great Outdoors tennis racket scene.. Killed 3 of those frickers as they fly in the same destinctive pattern once they get going in a room. Quite a sight watching them launch across the room.

ETA.. Check for shite on window seals and around the exterior of your house to see if they are living in numbers.. They tend to shite when coming out for feeding... They also shite where they live so you want to get rid of them if they are residing in your house.. The one positive was the lack of mosquitoes as they destroy all of them in the area.

This is simple, inspect where you see it coming from on your house. If there's a hole or gap. The critter may be chilling there. Otherwise it's just a perch.

Also guano is distinctive. You'll smell it inside if they're pooping.
