Posted on 4/29/17 at 6:01 pm to buckRogers
And what f the production wasn't there next year?
Then he is a year older and in the same spot
shite happens. Play for your second contract.

GB for Chi! Congrats sir inspite of the haters within our own fan base. 99% of fans are happy you will get your shot regardless of where you where drafted

Malachi Dupre: Caution Tale
This is a dumb arse post.
Chi needs to make a roster. If he does, he will make more as a 21 year old rookie than you would make in a decade.
If he doesn't, an extra year in BR would not have made the difference in his ability to make a roster or not.
He chose to play for his home state school despite offers from pretty much anywhere else in the country, stayed out of trouble, wasn't a distraction on or off the field, and our embarrassment of a fanbase is falling all over themselves to come here and bash how stupid he was and how soft and underachieving blah blah blah.
You nerds aren't even a blip on the radar to this kid that now finds himself with the opportunity to work hard and catch passes from one of the best quarterbacks ever to play the game and earn a career where he could make more money than any of you could dream of.
Cautionary tale my arse. Dork.

Maybe that's why he wasn't drafted. Kids don't play in the NFL.

The very definition of a player who continued to believe his high school clippings. Never even came close to his billing. Cam Cameron or not...he dropped waaaay too many, and failed to man-up on alot of contested passes.

I'm not the one calling a 21 year old a kid.
It was a joke dumbass.

My upper-class job aside, this is a silly comment.
I also have no illusions in respect to how much the nfl minimum is. He'll be well paid if he makes a roster.
Calling people nerds is gauche. Very 90s.

I don't know what a 7th rounder gets, but a new UDFA will make about $500,000 this year if he makes a roster and about $1,800,000 over his 3 year deal. He'll also get bonuses if he has a lot of playing time. It's not bad work, if you can get it.
Posted on 4/29/17 at 8:53 pm to White Roach
FYI - I know positively that the 2015 UDFA 3 year contract was worth $1,575,000; with base salaries of 435,000, 525,000, and 615,000. I'm pretty sure the UDFA rookie base salary was $465,000 last year, that's how I arrived at "about $500,000" for a UDFA rookie in 2017.

LSU could have used Malachi in 2017, but Malachi NEEDED to be used by LSU in 2017. He bailed just when the offense would have been there to help him. Dumb move Dupre.

If the production isn't there you DO NOT LEAVE. Dupre tried to rely on his combine numbers and ultimately failed. Stay in school.
Same Etling, Chark next year along with Drake Davis.
Dural came back because he had to, got passed up, and went undrafted.
Godchaux had good numbers and size for a DT and still got drafted low.
Beckwith got injured coming back his senior year.
Same college type coaches that still can't fix his problems at WR.
You guys never look at the big picture. Most of you only think about what these guys can do for LSU.
I'm glad that he will now get pro level coaching and he goes to a top notch place for it and a great QB throwing to him. He has the talent, just wasn't developed properly. Ball developed one NFL level WR at UGA, Craig developed nobody at Auburn, and Joseph has very few details to point you in any direction as a WR coach at this level. Wish he had Adam Henry for more than 1 year.

Still a good decision! He'll get a 50K signing Bonus and then a 500K salary. Even if he only lasts 2 or 3 years he still make over a million dollars.
Wasn't being developed at LSU. Remember La Collins, and Ciron Black and now Dural.
Just because you come back doesn't mean you get drafted higher.
Violent sport! Stupid to play for free!

After a year on the practice squad, he won't play this sport anymore.
