Texas has 49 in the top 300, for comparison

Huh? Are you saying Louisiana rank of 42nd on this list is related to population numbers? Louisiana is the 25th most populous state in the Union (after a quick search, may not be accurate), by the way.

Something isn't right about this list if South Plaq is on it.

What the hell is St. Amant HS doing in there? Was this a sympathy vote because of the flooding?

I feel privileged to have been educated at one of the top 2,500 high schools in this great land of ours.

That, combined with my degree from one of the top 500 (and dropping) universities and I am unstoppable!

Holy frick West Jeff is now only 12% White / 4% Asian????

No wonder why that school is doing terrible!

I guess it's a miracle I was able to get my degree in BSEE considering the foundation I came from LOL.

Laugh all you want, but a "per capita" basis would rank Louisiana around 25 on this list. So, I wasn't sure if you meant "population" plays a role (more students = more schools = more good schools to go on list) or, if for some reason, you were thinking "per capita" meant something other than "per person."

Still shows that Louisiana has poor schools when compared to other states.

Scores on reading and math tests, factoring in the percentage of low-income students to identify schools that beat projections.

The performance of Black, Latino and low-income students.

Graduation rates.

And the big difference from 2016: Advanced Placement results, used to elevate schools to a national rank.

So, don't take this list to mean a school is academically better than a lower ranked school. It might just fit the social justice criteria better. Anyone who tells you with a straight face that LSMSA is only a marginally better education than South Plaquemines and is way below BR Magnet is lying to you and has an agenda.
