Judge Patricia Minaldi forced into treatment for alcholism so severe it caused brain damage, faces a lawsuit from a colleague alleging she is incapable of managing her personal and business affairs and needs a curator. LINK

Judges can be impeached. IIRC it's only happened a handful of times in the history of the US.

What's really fricked up though is that she's protected by absolute immunity from liability for her decisions from the bench, even if she was taking shots under the desk.

She was relieved of her duties due to erratic behavior on the bench, so it did affect cases.
