2002 was pretty good too. Giants up 3 games to 2 and Barry Bonds hits a moon shot to put them up 5-0 in game 6. Angels come back to win 6-5 and go on to take the series in 7. I was at that game 6.

1912, anyone?
Went 8 games due to one of the games ending in a tie and was punctuated by Fred Snodgrass' epic error in the 9th inning of game 8 that led to the Red Sox's series-winning run.
Only baseball fans would mention a series over a hundred years old .

Well, in fairness only baseball fans really can. There was no NFL or NBA back then. The NHL is 100 years old this year. The World Cup was started in 1930.

Twins vs. Braves
The GOAT
It probably was.
The pitching duels were amazing, each game was tight and taut with tension.
Too bad it was mostly in a Dome.

I think ur trying to troll..... I'll bite.
It would've been had they not lost
It was a soul crushing swing for cubs fans seeing as the dude has very little homerun power and our best pitcher was in. It would've been typical cubs fashion to blow that game but our players being the best group in the majors knew where they stood and perserviered to secure the most important championship in MLB history. The league is better when the cubs are good.

I hope you die.
That's the first Series I remember, and it broke my damn heart. I STILL hate that damn song.
The 80s really did have a great run of World Series, bookended by great ones in 79 and 91 just outside the decade. What was really cool was how many different teams won the title, so it never got to be a stale cast of characters.

I'll add 97 Indians v Marlins. An all time great game 7.

Only one team (Dodgers) won it more than once, and at different ends of the decade too.

It wasn't a troll at all. I live close to Cleveland now and was watching that game with a bunch of Indians fans. That single swing was the most exciting moment in baseball in several years. It seemed like Chapman was untouchable and Davis was the last guy in that lineup anyone expected to hit a bomb there.

Didn't the big red machine go back to back in the 80s?
Eta. Had my decades wrong. 70s

Marlins-Cleveland was pretty damn good, went to extra innings in game 7, with a Marlins walk off hit.

And most importantly, the right team won.
