SIAP

MAGA

quote:

Trump's warning was one that Speaker Paul Ryan and the House GOP leadership badly wanted delivered to their rank-and file colleagues, many of whom are wary about or outright opposed to the GOP bill.

Trump entered the meeting to loud cheers. He started his remarks, then paused and said, "You guys don't mind if I go off script?"

"We have a chance to do something fantastic, to do something amazing," Trump told the lawmakers, according to sources in the room. Trump made the case that voters gave Republicans control of the White House and Congress to do just this.

Trump noted that previous attempts to repeal Obamacare weren't going to pass the Senate or be signed by President Barack Obama.

"I'm asking for your vote on Thursday," Trump said. Many of you came in on the pledge to repeal and replace Obamacare. I honestly think many of you will lose your seats in 2018 if you don't get this done."

Nothing incentivizes a politician like the possibility they may lose their job due to inaction.

This seem so harsh

compared to:

I honestly think many of you will lose your seats in 2018 if you don't get this done.

It'll be interesting to see how much influence he will continue to have over congress if his approval numbers stay in the tank. Also, the replacement bill is not popular among voters at all so voting for it may hurt your re-election chances more than it helps. Especially in swing districts.

The truth is almost all house members are from districts that the letter behind their name guarantees their job is safe until they decide to retire.

Trump is so unpopular at this point, they may be better off distancing themselves from Trumpcare.

More like repeal and lose your seat. If they repeal it and replace it with Ryan's crusty white dog turd they'll end up voted out anyway.

Repeal Obamacare and replace it with garbage that's not even popular among Conservatives...that's exactly what the Dems need to take back the numbers.

But the replacement bill isn't any good, and nobody really seems to like it once they learn about it.

Yeah, but not with a bill that will cost more and cover less Americans. This bill is for the super rich. Don't blindly follow it just because Trump is pushing it. Use your brain.

If they lose their seats, he's a one-term president. They're all in bed together.

Well he's not kidding. We all know this. The GOP has been down this road.

The last time they had congress they did nothing.

What in the holy frick. If this was actually a repeal and not some piece of complete dogshit bill theyre trying to ram thru Trump might have a point. But he's not calling for a repeal. He's calling for dogshit.

Disappointing.

All they are doing is trying to sell the American people they repealed and replaced Obamacare which was one of the things they campaigned on.

They don't give a rats arse whats in the bill and who it affects.

I'm sure the public will gobble it up again.

It'll be interesting to see if the House Freedom Caucus actually has the principles they go on and on about or if they sell out and bend the knee.

This threat seems a bit hollow given how the Ryan race against a Trumpkin turned out.

This isn't an order from Trump. It's just a statement of reality. Obamacare is less popular than Common Core, and taking a chance to repeal lightly is not going to go over well with republican constituents.

And before anyone says "congress knows their constituents". Trump won the Republican primary despite not having any political experience by making a very big deal that he was more in touch with Americans on immigration than every other candidate from both parties. Love him or hate him, he's not oblivious to what influences the pulse of the voters that support him. A lot of republicans in congress won elections against Democrats that supported Obamacare.
