If you really feel the need to tell him then ask him if he knows about the legality of flying in a national park, because you are "interested". And if he doesn't know, then maybe he'll look into it and educate himself.

Of course, people are idiots. Especially idiots with drones that have no idea what they are doing

I saw an Inspire at Spanishtown parade flying over the crowds and parade which is completely illegal. And you WILL NOT get permitted to do that at a public parade.

While I agree permits result in funding, is something malfunctions on a drone and it goes down, it could adversely affect wildlife.
The same thing can be said about any man made item that goes into the park. From litter to roads.

So the short answer is, if you have your pilot's license then yes you are usually able to fly in national parks.
This guy is an amateur photographer by hobby. He isn't a pilot.

If the fines and penalties are really that steep, I think you'd be an a-hole NOT to mention it to him.

Then he is definitely breaking the law. If he's aware he's doing so, then I'd say let him go about his business. He's an adult and if he gets caught he'll only have himself to blame.
If he's not aware that he's breaking the law then I don't see the harm in giving the guy a heads up.

I saw a Mavic at the McNeese/LSU baseball game a couple weeks back. I was kind of shocked that the pilot kept it outside of the stadium like he/she was supposed to.

I was mostly being facetious for comedic effect, I respect that

Question: Will the [FAA Part 107] rule allow flight in national parks?
Answer: The rule doesn’t restrict flight over national parks. No rules today, but the National Parks Service does not allow landing or taking off from their land. This would be the same as any local entity that have the authority over land use they can decide where you can land and take off. That is not an air space regulatory issue. The FAA doesn’t allow or disallow operations over national parks, but the National Park Service does regulate who does land or take off on their land.

Yea I was pretty polite with my response in his video, just warning him and what not.
Will follow up with his response (if he does so).

A punctured Lipo battery could set a nice fire too.

Probably don't want people fricking with bears and other wildlife.
Not to mention it's kind of rude to have your drobe flying around while other people are trying to enjoy the park.

why are they banned?
Because they don't want idiots who just bought their drone off Amazon a week ago flying around a lithium battery that is highly combustible over wooded areas, tourists, and protected wildlife.
Go figure.

Yes and No. There's a loophole at the moment. You MAY NOT take off and land within a national park. You MAY take off and land outside of the park.

We just stayed at a Nat'l park in Moab, Utah. In addition to the signs posted at the visitor center, the lady taking my fees asked if I had a drone. Seems like maybe it has been an issue at that particular park
