Anywhere near the Trace by chance? How long does the run usually last? I'm supposed to be down there around the 27th.

They usually don't make it up as far as the Trace. The Trace crosses Bayou Pierre on the Valley of the Moon. That's several miles East of Hwy 61.
These fish come out of the big River and spawn in Bayou Pierre in late March. So, they basically only go as far east as the backwater can take them. The backwater reaches Two Mile Bridge at about 30 feet (Vicksburg Scale) and Hwy 61 Bridge at about 35 feet.
They travel via backwater. But they like to spawn in running water over gravel. So, you want to find them right where the running water meets the backwater. That happens to be at Two Mile right now because the River is at 31.7.
If it would stay here that would be great. But it's gonna start falling hard by Sunday. So the fish will be even further West. Like Waterloo, Bruinsburg, etc.
The only way to catch them by the 27th will be to put in at the Port, and run downriver to Whitehall, and up the Bayou there. The fish will be coming off the spawn and schooled up around Bounderant Towhead.

I'm saving this info. Thanks for the tips.

@No Colors, Any word on the bass this year 2018?
Did the high water mess them up? We have been steadily trying them for two weeks with not a bite.

How are white bass to eat?

Not sure, but they store well in certain coolers.

Good when you get all the bloodline out

That may be pushing it, not bad when blook line is removed and served hot.
Barfish are a blast to catch but are on my donate to others if kept list.

+1 on the served hot. I will eat them only if I'm fish hungry without any other choice.

Agree. I don't mess with them much. Sheepshead is another I don't get the love for. A pita to clean, not much meat once trimmed, and not really that good to be honest.
