Overly obsessive parents in sports

Watching LaVar Ball attempt to get his 20 minutes of fame while ruining his sons career's in the process has got me thinking. Who were the craziest parents you were ever around with regards to being overly involved in sports and what would they do? I know that everyone has been around some bad ones.

Read that title as 'overly obese parents'.

There's always the 9-10 yr olds who show up with $500.00 worth of new gear and strike out every at bat.

I went to a high school soft ball game a few days ago. A dad was yelling at his daughter for swinging at a high ball. The pitches that followed were all over her head, but at that point, he was yelling at her to hit the ball because he didn't pay for a walk. She finally got a good pitch and hit that ball solid to the fence, but geez, the guy didn't make sense telling her to hit the high balls. She'd have had to jump to get some of those.

I knew a dad who would make his son run on a service road and followed him from a truck. Every time the son would slow down the dad would blow the horn and make him speed up. He was around 12 and was training him for high school cross country. The kid got burned out as he got older.
The son is now a dad of his own and treats his son the same way except the sport is soccer.

Anyone who has a kid in sports has seen these parents. It's pretty sad.

2 years ago I coached 5/6 girls softball rec league. We were lucky if we could get all the girls in the field to face home place. There was one girl who was decent. Probably 3rd best kid on the team. She played first base.
Fourth game of the season, a kid hit a ball to the pitcher. her kid was playing first and the pitcher bounced the ball about 5 times on the throw to first, which was about 10 feet wide of the bag. The MOTHER starts screaming from the stands about her she's done watching her daughter play with a bunch of &^#$*( LOSERS, comes onto the field, grabs her daughter, tells her very loudly "I will find you a team that doesn't suck!" and pulls her off the field. We never saw them again. The kid was crying, then all my other kids in the field start crying.
Horrific.

There was a dad on my team growing up who would always become irate with the refs and scream obscenities at them.
He started bringing binoculars so he could watch from his car once he was ejected by the refs. And he would still blow his horn and flash his lights when he disagreed from the car.

I remember playing little league and a teammate's father would park it right by the dug out and chew the ever living shite out of his son for frick ups at bat. The kid grew balls one day and flipped the dad off while walking back to the dug out. The dad walked on the field dragged him off and bent his son over his lawn chair and spanked him repeatedly.
I try and avoid parents while at sporting events. I usually try and sit or stand by myself bc I cannot stand to hear the side talk.

Local dad would sit in his truck with binoculars and spy on the high school football practices. Then he'd call the coach after practice and bitch at him forever.
I guess it worked out because his son got a full ride to Temple and started at quarterback for them for a couple of years. His twin daughters both got full rides to Villanova for basketball. Athletic family.
