You have a problem. Not saying they are a bad team. But it shows you that paul isn't looking for the best hitters but the best players for his idea of baseball. It's extremely frustrating and I was the one telling you guys to calm down last week. Regardless if we win, Paul needs to figure this shite out.

He will. People need to stop worrying about CPM he has proven that during the regular season he knows how to figure out his best lineup by the end of the season and be a top 8 seed. During the regular season that's all you can really do. Remember they were swept or lost two of three by Bama in the first SEC series last year.

Something isn't right with this Tiger team. I had high hopes that we could hit well and pitch great. These midweek games losses might bite our arse come postseason seeding. Not a good look.

Seeding is about how you do in conference play.

We will win a lot with Poche & Lange
And I really like Walker

A lot of people in this thread who don't watch a lot of mid-week college baseball.

haven't missed a game since 2010. We don't look like a CWS team.

You people are fricking pathetic.

Time to hire Blake Dean.

This team wasn't all that good last season and it's basically the same team back this season. Before the rally opossum stuff they were 28-16 (11-10). Not exactly sure why people expected this team to be world beaters when they were an average team that got hot for three weeks last season.

It seems like no one on the team outside of Freeman and Duplantis can handle breaking balls with anything remotely resembling consistency

Seems like the loss of Andy is showing a little bit right now.
And the above poster is right, before the "rally possum" stuff, this team was pretty average. I still think we can correct some things, but I doubt we'll be a national seed this year.

We are lucky to play in the SEC where these ugly midweek games can be made up for. But what's ironic is people ignore the real issue I see. These kids at the plate aren't hitting.
Now on the one hand these mid week games aren't as impactful as our conference season will be. But on the other, we will see a huge step up in the quality of arms we face in the SEC. So anyone who acts like things are just peachy or that this is perfectly normal needs to take the blinders off.
For those who keep mentioning this lineup being similar to last year's, you can't excuse a lack of improvement after a full offseason of summer league play and instruction, fall baseball, scrimmages and strength and conditioning on these kids being the same kids as last year. That's just silly.
Finally, I'd mention the biggest feather in the cap of the true believers in our head coach: Regular Season Record. With 5 losses in mid week/non-con already, this appears to be one of the lesser regular season records Paul's in position to guide a team to. To act like this isn't an obvious issue to an extent is sticking your head in the sand.
Our sticks are being shackled by mid week Southland Conference and also-ran type arms. It's an issue and folks should just get over themselves, stop white knighting and realize that admitting that doesn't mean they don't want to fire the coach or are crappy fans.

It is a cause for concern but it's not a reason to hit the panic button just yet.
Top 4 in the lineup are set and will hit. They have all proven they can against the best competition.
Three true freshman in the lineup all facing the best pitching they've ever seen in their lives. That can be improved on with just reps.
I don't know how long he can justify Pap's bat being in the lineup. His first two he still never hit but it felt like he gave a quality at bat every time. He's not even doing that now. And I think his hitting is hurting his defense. He can be a great defensive catcher but he does get lazy sometimes.
DH is still a working progress and will be a revolving door all year I believe and there is nothing wrong with that because you have good options.
Starting pitching has been excellent. This team will win a lot of games just because of the weekend rotation. Bullpen has the talent just needs the consistency.

Again, there comes a point in time where people begin to wonder why LSU is only capable of winning consistently when this team is loaded to the gills with position player talent.
We talk about a patented LSU hot streak under CPM, but the other side of that coin is mediocre to flat out bad baseball a team plays before and-unfortunately-after those in season streaks. You can't ignore that.
I'd rather consistency than streaks. Obviously most all of us would agree. But we rarely see that consistency out of an LSU Baseball Team outside of a few streaks here and there until a year where we have a loaded lineup, which Paul finds it hard to be consistent at putting together as well though that's a bit of a bigger picture discussion.
Which-for me-is personally annoying. Consistency is typically generated by repetition. It's rare to see this team get repetitions in quite the same way night to night. Paul is always tinkering. Always. Which I think impacts guys in this game at this level who don't have 160+ on the schedule to adjust.
On the one hand putting fans in the stands creates a need to figure out who can perform under the lights, and to an extent mid week/non-con won't always prove that out 100% compared to SEC play.
But summer league and Fall Baseball and scrimmages should seem to tell you a metric shite ton more than it seems to tell Paul. The in-season tinkering seems to tell me he doesn't rely on any of that.
The guy has his warts as a coach. None of us are perfect at our jobs. Few of us have one like his though. I just want a team that plays and competes consistently and a lot of times, I think the biggest impediment to that goal being achieved can be the head coach of the LSU Baseball Team.
That at $5 will get you a Large Granita at PJ's Coffee locations around the South Louisiana area though...

They are contagious, when a few struggle, they all struggle. Cant seem to get the timely hits with runners in scoring position.

I expressed concern before the season about Micah Gibbs being the hitting coach. And that is still my concern here in mid-season.
What credentials did Gibbs have to be hired as the hitting coach of a major baseball program like LSU? LSU should always have a proven pitching coach and hitting coach on the staff.

Micah's Gibbs was promoted out of necessity. Kind of hard to get a hitting coach at the time in the year when Cannizzaro left for State. I would not be surprised at all if they go get another guy after this year.
