Why do movies today feel the need to have the actors speak in a whisper

Then bust my eardrums with the music. I swear everytime I watch a movie at home I'm turning the sound uo and down 50 notches every 10 minutes and can never watch something late at night or I'll wake everyone up when music starts playing

Jesus, has this become the "lets bitch about mundane auditory shite in movies"board?

It can be annoying. With little kids now I find myself more and more watching things with CC turned on
ETA: One of the worst offenders of this recently was The Social Network. In particular the club scene. Even blared you could barely make out the conversation over the unnecessarily loud club music

Agreed. This shite needs to fricking stop.
There's a YouTube video or article out there about this. You're not crazy. It's real. And it's stupid.

This annoys the crap out of me. Turn the music low and the dialog up. I need an app for that.

Hollywood is clearly in league with the Audiologists.

I'm watching almost every movie with captioning on and I'm in my early 30s, which sucks because you can accidentally ruin dialogue sometimes by reading it before it's said. I'm getting better at ignoring it until I need to read it.

It's very frustrating. We were adjusting the volume constantly while watching the latest episode of The Path last night.

There was an article on here about this a few weeks ago. It's a real thing you're not alone. Now sometimes with home viewing, whether or not you have a soundbar and extra speakers that helps with dialogue, if not, all the new HDTVs have speakers in the back.
