I don't get the hate for Moonlight and the undeserved love for Hacksaw Ridge. People on this board like hacksaw ridge more than moonlight because of subliminal racism, homophobia, and bloodlust.

Moonlight was an objectively good movie, obviously, it won best picture. Moonlight had great acting and character development. The beach handjob scene is the scene of the year and hit close to home in this coming of age film. Hacksaw was just bad. Terrible acting, cheezy storyline, over the top gore, and no character develeopment. It is another testament to how horrible of a director Gibson is.

Hacksaw is an overrated movie. Haven't seen Moonlight but it sounds like it should be called Menace II Brokeback Mountain.

White privilege movie.

All those white guys got drafted - got to be on the front lines, in front of the bullets, fighting - got free luckies to smoke - - got to dream about getting back to Coney Island for a hot-dog and to see their gal.

Terrible acting

(Honestly...haven't seen the movie...but the few complaints I hear from people that didn't like it is that they didn't like the actor...Andrew Garfield, said he was annoying.)

The whole first half of Hacksaw reminded me too much of Walk Hard to take seriously. Loved the war stuff though.

I saw all 9 best picture nominated movies. For me La La Land was still the best. Lion and fences were better than Moonlight but moonlight was still good....not the best picture of the year though. Just my opinion.

No trolling here, I didn't like Hacksaw at all. I was worried I'd have a problem with Garfield and I did. I don't think he's a bad actor, I just have no desire to watch him do or say anything. The love story was pointless of course, and the whole movie ended up feeling like a single scene of a TV show. The true story and man is incredible, but without that factor and Mel Gibson's name this movie would've been quickly passed by.

Not watching Moonlight not for the gay thing, but for the ghetto thing.

If I wanna watch thug culture, I'd go drive down Plank Rd.

Haven't seen moonlight but I agree on hacksaw ridge. It was so cheesy it was funny and the acting was so bad it was cringeworthy. But then again this board loves some patriotic war films. USA!

FWIW - I thought it was pretty good.

Some people are afraid of seeing gay things bc it is contagious. So a lot didn't like it or watch

No. I hated Moonlight not because I'm racist, homophobic nor do I enjoy gore for no purpose but for gore.
moonlight did not win best picture because it was the best picture, it won because Hollywood deemed it time for a movie about a black homosexual to win best picture.
War is blood and gore and dirt and grime, its not pretty. But it gives you and idea of the high price some were willing to pay to protect our freedoms.
But watching homosexuals have sex supposedly is the height of enlightenment, knowledge and hipness...WRONG.
It is small minds content to stay small.
So just stay with your snowflake approved movies/shows/concerts and don't ever venture out into the real world; its just not safe...I mean with all the racists, homophobics, and gore lovers out there...better stay in your safe space and never encounter someone with an opposing opinion without resorting to small-minded name calling and simple minded attacks on people you've never met on a message board.
Brilliant you are.

I thought they both sucked. 2016 was a very poor year for movies.
