these guys seem like they could be good pick ups for us and I haven't seen them discussed on the board yet
quotes taken from NFL.com list of FA
I don't think either would be a bad add but im sure someone can explain if why not
and
I know we need guard more then tackle but good blind side tackles are not easy to find and well worth having aren't they?
quotes taken from NFL.com list of FA
quote:
Zach Brown, Buffalo Bills linebacker: It's unlucky for Brown that Rex Ryan is out of the league just after Brown's breakout season playing in the Ryan brothers' system. There is a big drop-off in the inside linebacker market after Brown.
quote:
Chris Baker, Washington Redskins defensive end: Still on the right side of the age-30 barrier, Baker is coming off back-to-back seasons as the Redskins' most disruptive defensive lineman.
I don't think either would be a bad add but im sure someone can explain if why not
and
quote:
Riley Reiff, Detroit Lions offensive tackle: Reiff is pushed up this list by the scarcity at tackle. He can play on either side of the line and would upgrade plenty of blind-side situations around the league.

We have Armstrong and Peat not to mention Kelemete to play LT. So umm...

I won't comment on Brown or Baker just because I really haven't followed them, though I do remember hearing good things about Brown last year. As for Reiff, I would be all for it but it would create a log jam at OL. Unless maybe he could play G for a year or so until Strief hangs them up?

We could use a guard not a tackle

I completely agree with that but drew spent a lot of time on his butt the last two years when protection broke down and the guys we have kept getting beat (granted some of that was injury related) so I don't see where its not worth a look if he can be an "upgrade" over any of those guys or just a rotational guy to spell them or injury backup. if not then yes we pass but I don't see the talent level of the guys we have now being talked about the same way as his talent level is mentioned.
maybe im wrong but I feel more and better pass protection for drew at his age is critical to our success

I think Brown is a good player....not sure he is a fit for our D though. We should go all out for a Gaurd like Zietler if he is available. I think we can address D in draft and solidify our o line. If we don't get offensive FA, we know CSP will use draft picks on offense.

We already know how csp functions, if it's a need he will address it come free agency. That way, he can go bpa in the draft.
