damn good question, once you get passed the 1-4 picks I think things tighten up with the talent to where you cant really say its a huge drop off from 5-12
lets go with crazy and say we have #5, im of the opinion it might be better to deal it for more picks before I take somebody at that spot. sure you pass a guy that people like, and the ST board would certainly go insane, but the extra picks you gain from that can make the difference in if you get to the playoffs next year and can seriously compete, or struggle and still be rebuilding next year.
that said it all depends on who is there at #5 and how desperately would we need that player. if he was a player expected to have been gone at pick 2 or 3, well that's different

Love Adams as a prospect but Hooker is a better fit for us right now. Adams will be a SS at the next level, and he will be a very good one. But we already have one. Yeah he'd be an upgrade but we'd be better off getting the talent elsewhere.
Hooker will be a pure FS. Blazing speed, natural playmaker. Ed Reed-lite. I'd take him.

Hooker is a dynamic safety with who can cover ground against the pass that most safeties just can't cover. Not only that but he is an interception machine. With that said, for as good as Hooker is against the pass, he is just as terrible against the run. He is a poor tackler in space & takes awful angles in run support. If you draft Hooker you simply have to take the good with the bad in hopes he can improve his weaknesses.
Malik Hooker Breakdown
Hooker is also coming off hip & sports hernia surgery.
quote:
Ohio State safety Malik Hooker had hip surgery in January, and sports hernia surgeries on both sides, so doctors had to take care with him.
“My medical checks are going real well,” Hooker said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com. “I was told not to let anybody pull or tug at my leg just because the surgery was recent — six weeks out and a few days — they more so looking at my upper body.”

Hooker having injuries like that don't make me confident considering the garbage Training staff NOLA has

Only the QBs make sense. That is kinda my point

Right, but my point was if you're willing to take a QB at 5 would you be against just taking one at 12 if the 5th pick stayed with tennessee? Or do you only want to take a QB if there's two first round pics
And what QB do you like at 5 that won't be there at 12? Personally Watson is the only guy I'd be optimistic about and I think he would be there at 12.

If you get to 5, you take Jamal Adams.

Honestly, with all of the defensive depth in this draft, I would shop the 5th and try to pick up additional picks. If successful, we could address LB/CB/DE/G in the first two rounds.
A team like Cleveland, who would be foolish not to take Garrett, may be interested in 5 for a QB. We get their 12 and a 2nd and can address every major issue in the firet two rounds.

No. I had a friend send me a link to his Amari Cooper vs Jalen Collins video a few years back & I've been a fan ever since. The guy is really good. I'm glad he is dedicating more time to producing videos.

I agree that's what we lack...a true playmaker even though I'd rather have Jamal..Malik Hooker is what we NEED.

No way the Titans will give up their #5
This. Titans are giving away #5 for Cooks. Not Cooks alone anyway. Cooks and another pick(s) or another player? Maybe. Cooks isn't worth (to the Titans) a top 20 pick in my opinion. They need a big , tall , fast "go up and get it #1 and that is not what Cooks is. As a Titans fan , I'd love to have Cooks but he needs to be an addition not the answer for the Titans need at WR. If the Titans start giving away picks , I think it will be for DB help before WR help. Time will tell. This is all just my opinion.

Well said. This is exactly what I want the Titans to do. They have no 2nd round picks but 2 in the first and 2 in the third. As deep as this draft is , I would like to see them trade out of the #5 pick , and with whatever deal that comes with , I would hope they would pick up a 2nd round pick. Obviously FAs can make your team better immediately but I also hate the risk of paying a guy big because so often you see that after getting that big payday their play on the field falls. That being said , drafting college players is a crap shoot as well but the more players you can draft , the better your odds of striking gold with a player or 2

Jamal will probably be gone before 5 the hell You talking abt
I absolutely love Jamal. Would love for him to be a Saint. But if we somehow fleece the 5th pick and don't take Thomas or Allen or whoever the best edge guy left is, I will lose my shite. We have to have a playmaker on the edge. Would make us better faster than any other position.
If Jamal is there at 11, though, I'm all over it.

Jamal Adams >>>>> Jairus Byrd. That's all I know. Good enough for me.

Adams, Thomas, Hooker, anyone of them would be amazing. But we aren't getting that fifth pick.
I wish we were because we could take Hooker and then Taco Charlton at 18 or Jordan Willis, or any number of guys to help out the pass rush.
Hooker at 5
Charlton at 18. Would FAP
