Don't freak out if Cousins refuses to re-sign

we still have a season and a half to deal him, and it's almost certain that we will be able to get more for him than what we just gave up. this is a potential franchise-building deal either way that you slice it. don't fall victim to the Boom's or Crewz's of the forum shitting on the parade with their investigation into any potentially minute negative that is out there
EVEN if this experiment blows up this year and it's a huge fail, we have all offseason to dangle Boogie to a team like Boston to recoup a major haul of assets to build around AD. that's the "worst case" scenario and it's pretty legit moving forward

At this point, Dell simply has one job.

we basically gave up almost nothing for him, so "no chance" is hilarious

the Pels still have the crown jewel: Bird's rights
there is no loss of leverage b/c the Kings fricked Boogie out of the super deal he could get and he'd be giving up even more by going straight into free agency. he's not going to do that and BR give him super value in a trade

I don't know why, but I just feel certain he's going to resign after next year.
What big market is going to be more attractive? Knicks, Lakers? I just don't see it.
Boogie seems like a NOLA guy. And the sales pitch on legacy is there. He and AD can become the best big man duo in the modern NBA.

yeah and let's be honest. Buddy simply did not turn out to be that great of a pick. he's an older rookie who should have been more NBA-ready and he simply hasn't shown to be that. if he requires another year or 2 to get going he's lost a ton of his prospect value. if our current trajectory maintained without boogie, the 2017 first would likely be in that 7-9 range as well, so it's not THAT valuable, either.
there will almost be no way that we can't recoup better value than that if we deal boogie down the line. it is almost literally impossible to get less value for him. that's how bad this deal was for the kings

i think he is too. money is going to matter to him and we still can offer the most
also Gentry is a coach that i can see making Boogie enjoy basketball. instead of this thread i almost made one about how Gentry may make this a very tolerable situation for Boogie (although i expect him to abuse the long leash he'll be given)
if we go out and make it fun and start to win, i just don't see him giving up on that money to go to a situation where he'd be less happy. i truly believe we can play fun and get him happy and Boogie can be Boogie and he'll be cool with that

they're the #2 seed in the east
the kings wanted an early 1st rounder. i'm not sure exactly what picks the Cs have, but i imagine that was the biggest issue

Celtics could miss out on Butler and George, then get demolished by Cleveland in the playoffs. Or beaten by Washington or Toronto. Plenty of things could happen that make them reconsider Boogie.

It is crazy to me that he is only 3 years younger than Boogie

yeah age matters more than years in the L
there is a somewhat standard development curve in the NBA and unless you're lebron, it's pretty consistent

Celtics have right to swap 1st round pick positions with Nets this year and they own the Nets 1st rounder next year too...both from the Garnett/Pierce trade. Seems as if they could've put together a more attractive offer if they wanted, but maybe Danny Ainge wasn't sure about being able to re-sign Cousins long term or didn't want to risk his attitude becoming a problem. Boston is setup nicely for the future with what they have now plus having a top 5 pick the next 2 years...Paul Pierce still contributing to Boston

The Kings basically just traded DeMarcus Cousins for a statistical copy of Nik Stauskas, the guy they dumped in 2015 with a '18 1st-rounder.

The did the Stauskus deal to cut salary in hopes of resigning Rondo.
