NBA All Star Game venue

With the extremely high demand for tickets, why do they play these games in arenas? Why wouldn't they have this in the dome?
They did it in Dallas a few years ago, and it set attendance records. It seems silly not to do this in the dome.

Pretty sure the game is in the dome. Theyre just doing some of the smaller things like the celebrity game in the arena

It is in the Smoothie King Center, and demand for the tickets isn't high.

Jerry World is TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE for a basketball venue. WAYYYY too big.

The complete opposite is happening

I was thinking this during the Celebrity game. Why are they doing this completely backwards? Friday/Saturday night events should've been in the SKC, All Star game should've been in the Dome

Basketball is much better in an arena than some Dome imo

I hear ya, but they've done Final Fours in there. With the updated technology, I'm sure they could get the acoustics and logistics right.

been to the dome with 600 section? I have once, for football with such a large field it isn't too bad, they still look like ants but the routes and players are dispersed across 40-50 yards.
now shrink the "field" into a court size and you get ants in a confined box.

I don't if tickets are in high demand but they are high $$! I wanted to bring my son but when I looked at pricing I said sorry, watching this one on tv.

This is 100% an NBA decision and the demand is not high as noted.

Ticket prices this year are peanuts compared to last year. They are selling on the secondary market for $200 a piece, and last year you couldn't walk in the door without dropping a grand on a ticket

Where are you finding tickets for $200? They are $350 plus on Stubhub when you factor in fees.
