Considering it's Maddux, I opened this thread expecting Bryant to find shite in his shoes or boogers smeared all over his locker.
Yup, by all accounts he was a pretty disgusting individual.

Never forget that 16 baseball writers didn't vote for Maddux to get into the HOF.

He probably pissed on them in the locker room at some point.

No offense, but how are you going to use a strikeout of Randy Johnson to accurately demonstrate Maddux's mastery of the mound? Hell I could strike Johnson out...
On a more serious note: Maddux is int he running for GOAT in my opinion... dude had unreal control and movement.

Who the batter is isn't the point of that gif. It's the fact that he made a baseball dive 2ft back into a righty.

No doubt that is a filthy pitch... I just chuckled when I saw who was "hitting."

That was awesome...
"Still want my bat?"
"No"

Maddux looked like that guy you would see warming up and say we are going to light this guy up.
Then Maddux goes out there throwing wiffle balls at all angles of the plate and you have no freaking chance.

Maddux had the ability to make anybody look like a real jabroni at the plate

Except Tony Gwynn. His interviews about Gwynn are great.

First, Maddux was convinced no hitter could tell the speed of a pitch with any meaningful accuracy. To demonstrate, he pointed at a road a quarter-mile away and said it was impossible to tell if a car was going 55, 65 or 75 mph unless there was another car nearby to offer a point of reference.
“You just can’t do it,” he said. Sometimes hitters can pick up differences in spin. They can identify pitches if there are different releases points or if a curveball starts with an upward hump as it leaves the pitcher’s hand. But if a pitcher can change speeds, every hitter is helpless, limited by human vision.
“Except,” Maddux said, “for that [expletive] Tony Gwynn.”
Question: what expletive did he use for Tony?
ETA: Some fun facts
quote:
Gwynn had six straight seasons (and eight altogether) in which he struck out fewer than 20 times.

That's a good month for Kris Bryant.

Maddux, Furcal, Andruw and chipper Jones are the reasons I grew up a Braves fan. And of course. The GOAT, Ryan Klesko

I feel like there were times when Corey Patterson, as a Cub, struck out that many times in a game.
