Unless there was also a boycott of General Mills, I'm not sure the boycott had a huge impact (yet?). Look at the chart comparing the movement of Kellogg and General Mills stock prices.

Full Disclosure: I'm a General Mills shareholder.

The boycott did nothing. If you knew anything about Kellogg's, you'd know they've been struggling for years and this is par for the course.

I didn't even know there was a boycott.

Funny how the OP picks a heavily spun Breitbart article to describe the job cuts

quote:

On Wednesday, the company disclosed that it would exit a direct store delivery model in favor of a warehouse model, which is already used by Kellogg's Pringles brand and the rest of the North American non-snack business. In total, Kellogg said it would close 39 distribution centers, which will all shutter by the fourth quarter of 2017. On average, those centers employ about 30 full-time workers—so layoffs could exceed 1,100.

This is the real reason. Has nothing to do with some fringe website creating a boycott hashtag. If you knew anything about how large, corporate companies are run, these types of decisions don't happen in a month. It's a long thought out strategic business decision.

There was an interesting Freakonomics podcast about boycotts. Apparently they're very rarely effective. Even the Gold Standard boycott here, the Montgomery Bus Boycott, had to last over a year, and even then it took a SCOTUS decision to get achieve the goals of the boycott.

The Target boycott was effective.

Don't forget, liberals used to boycott everything too. Now they just smash windows and set shite on fire.

I think the layoffs are because you cannot actually open the cereal bag after you open the box. They are apparently too goddamn stupid to put the cereal in a resealable bag that a 7 year old or 70 year old can open.

Unfortunately this will become more common place now that an arm of the media is now directing the presidency of our country. Doesn't matter for which political party, not good in anyway.

Was it really, or could the fact that the Target's of the world are being supplanted by the Amazon's of the world have anything to do with it, especially since target is more expensive?

And those weren't effective either, and in some instances (Chick-fil-A), the boycott appeared to have the opposite effect than was intended.

Nah. Target, ESPN, Kellogg, and errotherbusiness that experiences a downturn is feeling the wrath of some asshurt Trumpkins. Fundamental changes in the marketplace have nothing to do with it. Blockbuster is out of business because they peddled too much Hollywood shite and the Breitbart clique got angry and took them down.

Me neither, but in viewing what they have done. . .I have no qualms about participating.

I can express my disapproval with my wallet.

Or I could take to the streets, injuring people, and break and burn shite. . .but that would make me a progressive liberal
