Stansbury us not my wish list headliner. You're all missing the point. Alleva is the ad do you want him on one of his coaching searches or would you rather get a consistant winner who wants to come? This is the part of it you're not considering with Alleva. Stansbury wanting to be here is a gift in our lap. I'm just warning you watch what happens if it's not Rick Stansbury.

I'm not for or against Davis but he was the head coach at Idaho and Texas A&M before Brady got his first head coaching job. Davis was the youngest head coach in the NCAA at 28 in 1988. I wouldn't categorize Davis as a Brady disciple.

He went 8-21 in 1990. If we pull a rabbit out of our hat and get a really good up and commer I'll be ecstatic. But I've seen Alleva work I had some inside scoop on the football coaching situation and I'm telling you if a guy like Stansbury wants to be here we better pray they jump at the chance to hire him. Look at who he could've tried to get this past off season. Even Jamie Dixon is right there at TCU turning that mess around already. Alleva will destroy the program if allowed to do it.

Has anybody actually looked at WKU this year to see how Stansbury is doing in his first year coaching after coming out of retirement? His team is under .500 and just lost their 4th game in a row by double digits. I guess the guy had a good run awhile back, but it's been almost ten years and the guy is almost 60. Maybe not the guy we should hitch our wagon to..

Yes it's a total rebuild there. He's inherited garbage but he's signed a 5 star 7 foot center from chalmette la. The number 6 player in the country. he's also signed a 4 star prospect from Madison prep in Baton Rouge and hired two very good young assistant coaches sham kind williams and quanavious white both with strong louisiana ties. He's recruiting our state better than we are and he's doing it at western Kentucky.

Did you research any of that? WKU had a winning record and won 18 games last year. The coach just resigned, so there was an opening. Stansbury has brought in some pretty big name grad transfers and the team was projected to contend for the league title.

18 games in a bad league isn't good. I'm not going to get into an argument about the quality if an 18 win mid major team that lost players strength as a team just because you want to argue. Btw the pre season publication I have had western Kentucky picked 7th in C-USA with their best returning player being a 6ft guard who avged about 10ppg

Knock him if you want but he's done things no coach in LSU history has done at Miss St. Of all places. And for the umpteenth time because I guess you read one line of a post and disregard the point. I never said he was great I never said he'd be my first choice what I said was if a coach as accomplished as him in our league wants to come the risk is infinitely lower than it would be to allow joe Alleva to go out and find a coach.

This literally took me 5 seconds to google (LINK /)
In that article, they are picked 2nd in the conference. Here is a line from it..
"Really the only thing that will hold back WKU from contending for a Conference USA title would be depth. As I mentioned, their first six are outstanding, but there’s a pretty steep drop off after Ben Lawson."
Hard to believe your magazine didn't mention Justin Johnson. He was projected to be all conference and led the team in scoring and rebounding last year..
Posted on 1/22/17 at 12:49 am to brmark70816
Yes they mentioned him "returning player who could make a significant jump" 12.9 ppg and 8.1 Rebs hardly all conf numbers. Dunno how they could be predicted to challenge in conf USA they've been trending down annually the past couple years from 20 to 18 to sub .500 this year. Whoever predicted them being good doesn't understand trends.

He sure sounds like your headliner, you are saying anyone who thinks he can't turn it around is stupid and does not know anything about hoops and any other choice will doom us because our AD is incapable of picking from a list of coaches who could be better.
My take is I want one of the young and up and comers, with some energy, enthusiasm and vision...and yes some personality. I do think that is important here and now. Davis or McCall and I'm sure there are others. That's pretty easy, and I'm sure even our challenged AD knows about guys like this.
You have a much higher opinion of Stansbury than I do, we've established that without question in our discussions the last couple of days. That's fine, we simply won't agree there....ever.
I don't want a settle or stop-gap hire like Stanbury. Kermit ain't in my top-5 either, and is that kind of hire too, but yes I'd prefer him to Stansbury if and only if we go after the best young coaching talent and fail first. Hell he's gone as far as Stanbury ever has in the NCAA tournament and he brings some personality and energy.
And if one of those choices other than Stanbury fails as you predict, it still is no gimmie that Stansbury would have been the better choice, it's mere speculation on your part given his better years at State....not an I told you so lesson.

I never said any of those things. Never told anyone they don't know what they're talking about or called anyone stupid. But hey lie all you want it's a free country. I explained why Stansbury is the right hire and it's not because like you I believe my opinion is law and can't be challenged. I've explained why multiple times. And disregarding my reason as luck and speculation is just another way of you acting like your unqualified and irrational "opinion" is supreme and beyond reproach. My warning has 1,000 times more proof and substance behind it than anything you've said, trying to rename it as a shot in the dark is hedging your bet it's weak and childish.

I kinda took your below post that way, I guess having no clue could be construed differently than being stupid or not knowing anything about basketball. But some could construe it just as that. I did, my apologies if I misinterpreted.

Exactly, people who shite on Stansbury have no clue. Plus the guy recruits louisiana as well as anyone he has our best incoming player committed to him right now.

I welcome my opinion being challenged, if I didn't I wouldn't come here to discuss and debate otherwise. That does not make any sense.

Again, c'mon mad I did challenge your opinion as speculation...hell it is just as mine is. You are the one with the "wait you'll see", I'm going to be right and you are going to be wrong when anyone that Alleva picks but Stansbury will fail. If anything it's your words that ring as beyond reproach.

here it is again, your "warning" ...you'll see, I'm going to be right and you wrong.
But we can go on like this all day, I don't mind I come here cause I like to discuss LSU hoops.
But here's my take. I don't want to dumb down my expectations to allow for the inequities of our athletic department. Hire Stansbury because even though by your admissions he's not the best option out there he's willing and our incompetent administration can do no better.
No....NO, I just don't think we should accept that, and at the very least I would be disappointed if we do that.

I didn't know you were shitting on Stansbury I thought you just rathered a different candidate. Ppl that shite on him have no clue the guy has been more successful in the sec than most coaches so that's a fact.
Posted on 1/22/17 at 11:57 am to Tiger Ugly
Yes but what I'm saying I'm right about is different than saying you're wrong. I'm right about Alleva not that davis is a bad coach. You're not paying attention to what I'm saying that's all.
Posted on 1/22/17 at 11:59 am to Tiger Ugly
I'm in a phone that's why I have to post for each answer. Yes I'm saying let Alleva hire Stansbury because it more safe than him coming up with his own solution that's why I want Stansbury.

Hell Mad who knows what you think I'm thinking, because you seem to take a lot of liberties with what I post. I guess we are even then as I took what you said as saying anyone who doesn't think Stans is as good a coach as you is shitting on him. So I took liberties too. Touche'.
Posted on 1/22/17 at 12:06 pm to Tiger Ugly
Not at all I thought you just rathered davis. Stansbury is a good coach facts support that.

Nah, you are saying I think my opinion is beyond reproach. That is just baseless. And I'm renaming my discussions and opinions and it's weak and childish?
I really think it's you with the reading and comprehension problems. Hell you showed that as a big issue yesterday with your 100% correct edict.
Posted on 1/22/17 at 12:18 pm to Tiger Ugly
Do you have some kinda problem dude? You have some god issues? I'm done you want to argue for the sake if arguing. Kermit Davis is the next coach K and whatever you find acceptable for the LSU program I think the admins and every fan across the globe should stop and listen. Your greatness has opened my eyes and whatever you say I will take as gospel from now on. Thank you for sharing your infinite wisdom o wise one.
