But to my point, THEY didn't call Lewis's comment an "attack". So in the NY Times universe, Lewis can call the president-elect an "illegitimate president," but Trump can't defend himself even with such a mild comment as "Lewis should focus on his own district."

Which of the two comments would you say is more properly called an attack?
