re: NCAA is a Joke: LSU's Secondary Violations

A handshake should never be a violation unless a C note is being passed. Think about that for a second, a handshake. A handshake is a ritual as old as our species. How can it be a violation?
It makes no sense. Shaking hands is a no no but you can bring former players to practice to run scout team? So you can tackle them but don't dare shake their hand! Unreal.

So Odell Beckham, Will Clapp, the Kitchens, Ruffin Rodrigue, et al, will be sighted as violations ?????
Next thing you know, if you are a former player and you have a son that might be player in the future, send him to foster care immediately!

The former player meeting the recruit is a violation that doesn't actually carry a penalty. So is it really a violation? Not really, but our compliance office has decided to change our sideline policy because of it.
yet bama has ex players come in and run scout team offenses

Is Trent Richardson even in the NFL?

So, in the world of the NCAA, it is a violation to shake someone's hand, take a picture with someone, and ride in a car with someone.
How do they determine all of this with a straight face?
"WHAT?!? An LSU player took a picture with an NFL player?"

Former bama NFL players can run as scout team players... seems like this 'contact' could amount to a considerable number of secondary violations.
You do know the difference between a recruit and a current player?

LSU is welcome to bring back former players and have them shake your current players hand. Pretty sure the NCAA would frown if Bama brought in recruits to run the scout team offense.

I don't think many on here do, and most didn't even bother to read the actual article before posting.
Only on Trant can they take something not even related to Alabama and turn it in to a Bama obsession.
I could probably get upvotes just by starting a thread that said the death of Harambe was caused by Bama.

These are SELF REPORTED violations. The NCAA could give a shite less about them. It's just our department doing their job.
No shite Sherlock. Go suck off Jimmy. The whole point is that is a ridiculous rule. Why have a rule like that if there are no repercussions for breaking said rule?

What a calm rational response.
The reason many of these rules exist is to draw the line somewhere, and it provides accountability to schools. There's another post in this thread which talked about it more, but that was basically the sentiment.
While there may not be penalties assessed against a team it does keep the NCAA aware of violations and helps them keep an eye out for future problems.

It's a stupid rule, but I remember USC getting investigated for Pete Carol having Reggie Bush on speaker phone while Joe McKnight was in the room and Reggie telling Joe that there was nothing to worry about as far as the NCAA investigation. Then Joe came out and said Reggie wasn't on speaker phone, Pete just repeated what Reggie said, so there was no direct interaction.

The second violation involved a recruit who met an ex-LSU player on the sideline during a game this season and shook his hand.
The absolute horror.

Self reported by Bansen... it's almost like he works for Bama.

But Bama can have NFL players practice with them? I know he's not on a current team, but he was at least signed to a team as of last year. Holy frick the NCAA is corrupt. The NCAA needs a good cleansing just like Trump is about to do with the government. Can the people elect the next NCAA president? The fans and universities should really start voicing their opinion on the shite arse NCAA.

current players aren't the same as recruits. That's the difference.
