He's well respected by guys like Pop and Coach K. Like others have said, Kobe, Melo and ball dominant scorers just don't really work in that system. Harden has bought in and is leading the league in assists while still scoring 28 a game.

They could work in the system if they wanted. Kobe as a 5 time champion had clout to resist. Carmelo as a 0 time champion and perennial first round playoff loser, had no clout to resist the system. All in all,the Knicks as they've done many times over the last decade, made the wrong decision.

I'm convinced the Knicks have the worst ownership in the NBA. Free agents actually wanted to sign there, but the amount of terrible moves they made over time either rendered them unable to sign the best free agents, or made the team so bad and caused the organization to look so bad, that free agents (besides NY loving Melo) had no reason to sign there if they wanted to win.

It's frustrating as a Houston fan considering the free agent misses over the years, that just being in NY would have made it a lot easier. We got lucky on Bosh though, and I thought the contract offer was stupid and desperate to begin with on Miami's part.
