had a good relationship with Jesuit and going there was the only way they could get in
Most of the boys used to leave SCS in 5th grade and go to Christian Bros. to funnel into Jesuit. More boys are staying at SCS because they are not having any issues getting into Jesuit any longer.
Plus it saves a lot of $$$.
Yes, mens club dues are included in tuition, but I think it's like $35 a year. It is more than worth it.
My friend is on the board at SLKF and they can barely get any dads to show up for shite.
At SCS it's like a small army shows up for any and everything that needs volunteer muscle. Guess that's why they raise over $100K a year for the school every year.
St. Edwards has a great mens club too. I don't understand why some schools just can't get parents to come out and provide the support needed.

Talking about school for the kids? I'd say St Catherine's.

Just posting below to keep the facts straight, no other reason:
Tuition is due on or before June 1, 2016.
Tuition:
Parishioner: $4,800.00- 1 child, $8,640.00-2 children, $11,280.00 -3 children
A parishioner of St. Francis Xavier is one who is registered, active, and supporting. This means the family has filled out the Parish census form, is in regular attendance at Mass on Sundays and Holy Days, and is a regular financial contributor to the Parish. Parishioner status must be certified by the Parish Office.
Non-Parishioner: $4,800.00- 1 child, $8,640.00-2 children, $11,280.00 -3 children
Non-Catholic: $5,000.00-1 child, $9,000.00-2 children, $11,750.00 -3 children
Pre-Kindergarten 4: (Not included in Family Plan) - $5,075.00
Pre-Kindergarten 3: (Not included in Family Plan) - $5,275.00
Pre-Kindergarten 2: (Not included in Family Plan)- $5,525.00

totally my fault. It's (nearly) $10k a year for two kids, not a kid.

I can only speak for slkf, but the reason no one goes to men's club meetings anymore is because the principal sucked the fun out of it

I only have experience with SFX... Good administration; and for what its worth, my son's favorite classes are math and science there. This was not the case before sending my son there.

I heard that's kind of what happened with St. Angela too, except it was a crappy priest. He tried to take over everything. Didn't want them having beer at their events and wanted most of the meetings to be about prayer time or something like that. I think he was messing with the ladies group too.
That school fell on some pretty hard times around then. Even started taking some voucher kids and then the shite really hit the fan.

for class size SLKF is better than both
That's because no one wants to send their child their.
St. Francis parents seem to be more down to earth than st Catherine. St. Catherine is very clique.

Can someone give me opinions between st. Ann and st. Philip neri in metairie?
I live out by the lake at the end of power in kenner and because of proximity to work and house these two are my options for kids. Thanks
I am a parishioner of st. Philip but I do not know much about the schools. But like the fact that st. Philip just opened an early childhood program (6 weeks to 2 years)

St Catherine is run by the real house wives of old metairie. They control that school and treat the teachers like shite.

Is that why there is so little teacher turnover?
The men will bitch slap those co-op women if they stop out of line. LOL

I went to st Ann. Starting in 4th grade or so, each grade was split into 4 classes. One for gifted students, 2 for average students and one for kids who required special attention. I always thought that it was better for kids who were either gifted or needed special attention as opposed to the smaller schools that had one class per grade

yea St Catherine is terrible. my friend works there, she cant stand the place
Posted on 1/2/17 at 3:37 pm to bee Rye
SFX is great in my eyes. The school personality is much more friendly than st Catherine's. St Catherine's wants a certain type of student and if early on they don't meet that mold they dump them or don't try and help. I know so many people that have bailed on st Catherine's and moved to sfx and been much happier there

Whatever. Fact is they have a waiting list to get in and the kids test into any high school they want to attend.
They have upgraded their technology and security equipment a ton over the last few years and have a ton of money to do more.
