The Waccamaw and Chicora tribes still reside in Northeastern South Carolina.
Just like Palestinians still live in Israel. In fact, 20% of Israel's population is just that.

They were never forcibly expelled from this area.

they should be granted lands in this area or financial compensation, both of which Israel has refused to Palestinian refugees.
That's a lie too? Do you do it out of ignorance?
Again, in 2005 Both GAZA and West Bank was left. Thus granting lands.

Yep. The Christians who were robbed blind by the state are victims too, which destroys the bull shite notion that these "muzzzies will never be happy with any deal."
Let's not pretend that those Christians have any say in the decisions on either side. Hamas isn't consulting the Christian residents before setting policy or pushing attacks.

Of course not.

Other Arab nations hate the Palestinians. They are the trash of the Arab world. Nobody wants them. They only send Palestinians $$$ to blow themselves and some Jews up.

Israel itself still considers the West Bank disputed territory, which is the very basis for its claims that the settlements are legal. So much for giving them land.
And this has nothing to do with lands in the Palestinian territory. Until the Israeli's recognize that the right of Palestinians who lived in Israel prior to 1948 to return to lands that were stolen from them, there will be no peace. Giving them occupied or semi-occupied lands in walled spaces a hundred miles from their native home is no better than our Trail of Tears, which I'd think all would agree was a travesty.

At what point in history does one draw the line though? What ever is comfortable for you or that fits comfortably in your world view? Why you only go back 70 years? Why not 500? 1000? 2000?

Where do the 20% of Israel's population live then?

That would be TransJordan

When are you giving up your home and lands?

Again... what about the 20% of the population of Israel?
You backed off everything you just stated. Nice

There are tens of thousands of people still living who were forced off their homes and lands by the Israeli government after the Arab-Israeli War. Most of them were non-combatants in the war that led to their deportation. This was less than 70 years ago. These people should have a right to return to their homes.

Remember when hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were forcibly removed from their homes in 1948 when neighboring Arab countries, not themselves, declared war on Israel? Remember when Israel refused again and again the right of return to these people who had lived in Palestine for centuries? There are grievous atrocities on both sides of this conflict.
And this is why the conflict will never end. Neither side will submit, forgive, or forget. Americans shouldn't act surprised by this.

You didn't answer the question unsurprisingly.
How far back in history does one have claim? Like I thought it seems however far back that fits neatly into your politics and world view.

You don't get to claim property for other people. if you're dead, your claim ends.
Which is probably more of a problem for the jews claiming Jerusalem based on a book that is thousands of years old than the arabs claiming their home that was taken last week or in 1948.

Ok.. So when all the land owners from the Arab Israeli wars die there should be no issues then. How many are still alive from the 48 conflict?

There's nothing neat or easy about this because of conduct of those on both sides. To answer your question, I would say that all those who lived in the British Mandate pre-1948 who are still alive should be allowed to return with their living descendants if they so choose.

This argument falls apart easily based on your own comment. If homes were "taken," and whomever has the property most recently has the "best" claim to it, then whomever has the home now has legal claim to it.

That's not going to be many.. In 15 years it may be none. Will your view change then? Probably not.. You will move the goalposts.
Posted on 12/28/16 at 2:37 pm to kilo
I don't think the issue is those still alive, it's the living descendants part who never resides in Israel proper.
Posted on 12/28/16 at 2:38 pm to SCLibertarian
Oh... So now its living decendents. How far back does that work?

So are you just making a might makes right argument here? I'm not really sure of your position.

There are no historical "rights" or entitlement for territories. Whomever controls it calls the shots because they won the most recent war and have the current rights. Don't like it? Don't lose wars. It's not pretty or PC, but it's fact, and it been that way since the beginning of time (I was there).
Arabs attempted several times to retake the land but couldn't - and in fact lost more land in the process.
