Citrus bowl- Orlando suggestions?

Hi! Headed to Orlando for the game and New Years..
Any suggestions on where to stay?
Early 30s- hotels close to bars, restaurants, and entertainment. close enough to uber to the game.
Should we rent a car or can we just uber everywhere?
We will be going to universal and Epcot during our stay.
Heard citywalk and I-4 area is good?
Any suggestions for NYE events?
I haven't been to Orlando since I was 12. TIA for any suggestions.

They just redid downtown Disney. There is a Hilton within Walkng distance to that. You can prob go to Epcot for a day and drink and have fun with your family.

I would think that most hotels are probably booked. The ones near Disney certainly are.
I worked at Epcot for 11 years and NYE is insanely busy every year.
The Citrus Bowl is about 20 min east of Disney, it's more toward downtown Orlando. I'd look for a room somewhere near there.
Universal is right off I-4 on Kirkman, you can't miss it. There are a few hotels near there also on Kirkman, you could try those but I would think they're probably booked too but you never know.
If you can, try to avoid I-4. I can't tell you how much I hate that freaking interstate. On just regular days it backs up for no reason. I only got on it if I absolutely had to. On NYE it's a million times worse.
Try hotels on Kirkman, Vineland, or close to downtown (but make sure they're in a decent area). The stadium itself isn't located in the best part of town.
Good luck and

I-drive (international) drive isn't far from Kirkman. It intersects with it actually. It's very touristy but it's a decent area.
You could drive north on kirkman (also known as 435) and get to Universal (Citywalk is also located there) and if you continue north on it, you'll eventually see signs for the toll road 408. You can take that (go east )and get to the Citrus Bowl. It's just before you get to downtown. Probably cost you a couple bucks.

Orlando?
Podunk town, one stoplight from what I understand. Nuthin to do, maybe visit the coffee shop. I hear Mabel serves up some tasty apple pie.

LSU Orlandeaux alumni group will have two get togethers Friday before game in separate locations and we are trying to secure a place for NYE night.
Soon as I have confirmation from rest of the board I'll put up a post. Should know details in a day or two.

You will need two days to do ALL of Universal...if you can only pick one WDW park make it any one but Epcot. Unless alcohol means that much to you. And if you just have to go to Epcot check out Royal Arkshus (sp) it's a restaurant in "Norway"

Should we do universal adventure island or the regular universal? I went to universal studios in Hollywood this year and loved it.
I'm leaning towards Epcot bc I heard it's more For adults.
We have 2 days- 30th and the 1st.
Besides the parks, is there anything else I should do while in Orlando?

Buena vista suites. Clean, close to downtown Disney, and free breakfast . Nice place.

Bird mans advice is spot on.
I would definitely rent a car if you plan on moving around that much.

Stay close to downtown. There's a new Hampton near the medical center that I've stayed at 3 times since they opened in April, and am staying there again on NYE. There is also a Doubletree, Courtyard, Residence Inn, Crowne Plaza, Aloft, and the Grand Bohemian. The tourist corridor (Disney, Unversal, I-Drive) is ok, but downtown is much better for nightlife.

Birdman- we are staying at the Rosen centre hotel on I drive by the convention center. I'm a bit horrified bc the reviews sound terrible. Got it on a Priceline deal.
Thinking of not renting a car and just using uber everywhere.. what do you think about that?
I'm thinking the surge days will be New Year's Eve. We will just need a ride to and from the stadium and wherever we end up going that night. The Disney and universal days will be full days so we will just need a ride to and from the theme parks.
Rental car is $200 plus $15 a day for parking at the hotel. so all in all with gas, we should be spending around $300-$350.. I'm thinking we won't spend as much on uber.
What do you think?
Sorry this is long haha

Honestly, I can't say because I have no experience using uber there.
However I do have a buddy of mine that still lives there that trained me at Epcot and on the side he drives for uber and does well so you'll probably be ok.
If anything, they'll use roads other than I-4 to get around. I was going to tell you sort of a back way to get from the Universal area to LBV (Lake Buena Vista) but if you uber it, they'll already know it.
I would think you'd be ok doing that. Certainly from your hotel to Universal, it's right there. It's not far at all.

As far as the theme parks go, yes but they will be packed on the other days. I can't speak for Universal but I don't see why it wouldn't be like WDW always was. We were always busy from the day after Thanksgiving right up to Jan. 1 at Epcot. Epcot has the Candlelight Processional that starts the day after Thanksgiving and tons of people come to see it, so it'll be busy but yes, NYE is when it's just insane.
Have a fun time and ride the boats at Epcot! That's what I used to do!
