Because for about 3 months prior we were busy trying to catch thieves that operated that same way. Come to your house and knock on you door. If nobody answered they would put in work type gloves and go through your garage and shed. One elderly woman watched out her window as they did it and 2 other home owners had video. Different guys and vehicles each time but same MO.

I live in bfe on a 6 mile road with 4 houses on it. Why would guys be way out here in the middle of a week day tying to sell meat when most people aren't home? If your job is a salesman then why wast time being 20 miles from town? Sure, I may have been rude but I also won't be an easy victim

A good salesman doesnt stay on the same roads that every other salesman out there goes on as well. You cant be afraid to turn down a random road and see whats there.

One of the best sales of my career happened bc I was ready to head in for the day and stopped in at a building I had passed 3-4 times a week for 2+ years. I always passed it heading to and from a heavy industrial area of town and never thought twice about stopping. I stopped in and when I went through the doors of their shop, it was like I hit a goldmine. Come to find out they said they rarely had salesman come by bc they keep thr building pretty locked up during the day and dont have a fancy exterior to indicate what they did. I ended up making an extra 1000-1500 a week commission for almost two years until I took another position with the company. Still the best cold call Ive ever done to this day.
