Said Oregon never beat any physical team

That is just plain wrong. 2010: Oregon-52, Stanford-31 (Stanford went 12-1 and won the rose bowl that year).
2010: Oregon-45, Wisconsin-38 Rose Bowl
2011: Oregon-53, Stanford-30 (Stanford 11-2, Fiesta Bowl Loss)
2014: Oregon-59, Florida St-20 CFP Playoff Semifinal
2015: Oregon-38, Stanford-36 (Stanford won rose bowl)

They beat physical teams every year, and even when they lost they were very competitive.

Yeah, Oregon's problem was not how their O would perform against physical defenses but how their defense would perform.

Our 2011 historic defense that "held" them to 27 was also aided by 4 turnovers from the Ducks.

As for recruiting, he would be joining a great recruiting staff in a target rich state. I'm not sold on Helfrich, but he's an option.
