So apparently every laser printer prints small, almost imperceptible yellow dots in certain patterns on every document printed. Each one is a certain code that has the printers serial number and the time of printing, and the original purpose was supposedly to fight counterfeit money being printed.

They've also used this technology to identity serial killers.

I only use my home printer once and then throw it away for a new one so they'll never catch me.

Note to self.
Print ransom note somewhere, then copy it through 10 different copy machines

No doubt there are legit uses for it, but if we all had tracking devices embedded into us at birth that could be useful too. I never knew about this until just now, and although it doesn't surprise me it still seems like more government overreach into everything we do.

Also couldn't you just take the yellow toner out? Problem solved.

I don't think the printer will function without the yellow (or any) cartridge will it?

I tried, for a minute, but I just can't get outraged. Show me.

Show you what?
This alone isn't something worth getting outraged about, but is just one more thing to show the surveillance state that we live in.
