If missing a big hire this time ends up resulting in Aranda as HC

Down the line, it might actually end up palatable.
I worry about how we keep him, but, I think he's got a strong future.

There is little chance if O goes down in flames that there will be a stomach to promote from within again.

Hence my use is the word "may".
It certainly isn't risk free

If O goes down in flames then at least we won't have to worry about Alleva fricking up another hire.

A legit concern.
Here's hoping that doesn't end up the cause.
I mean. I strongly feel the O hiring was awful.
But. It isn't certain he will fail

Can you link some proof he has desires to be a CFB HC?

Odds of that are way less likely than CEO being a good HC for LSU.

He just basically ran the program for Bowden.

Can you post a link where he says he doesn't?

I think Aranda has his sights set on the NFL. JMO.

Agree and there is a reason he is Associate HC

You want LSU to suck for 3 years so Arranda can be HC? You suck as a person.

I'd prefer one of the nation's top coordinators as head coach, than someone who went 10-27 at Ole Miss.

How exactly did Alleva frick up another hire, by not getting in a bidding war with Herman’s dream school for an unproven head coach that immediately after receiving a preliminary offer from LSU instructed his agent to betray Alleva by leaking the terms of the deal to the Texas boosters? Yeah right, give me a break.
Alleva was exactly right not to let Herman pump up his annual income. In all probability, Herman will end up being the next Charlie Strong at worst, or at best the next Kevin Sumlin. There is no way that Alleva should have paid Herman Saban like money and taken a massive gamble on an unproven head coach that again at best will be another Kevin Sumlin or at worst the next Charlie Strong. Then for sure, he would have lost his job.
Meanwhile, despite a massive offer to Jimbo Fisher, he was not coming to LSU under any circumstances, because he is apparently afraid to coach in the SEC and to face Saban every year.
In addition, Mike Gundy is never going to leave Oklahoma State, because that’s where he went to school and it is his dream job in his own home state. Not to mention, that while his offenses for the most part have been pretty much descent, his defenses for the most part have mostly stunk.
Meanwhile, Larry Fedora and P. J. Fleck aren’t any better candidates than coach O and neither of them know anything about LSU or our state in any event.
Hence, after Jimbo Fisher refused to accept the job, as far as anyone with common sense is concerned, the search, for all intents and purposes, was over, as hiring coach O was the obvious logical choice.
Furthermore, the deal coach O offered Alleva is too good to pass up, as there is no buyout clause. Plus, he is going to coach for significantly less money that coach Miles. Therefore, if after three years he pulls a Charlie Strong on us, we can fire him and get someone else without having to worry about paying a buyout. Hence, coach O was the perfect hire given the current situation.
Not to mention, that Coach O only loss to Alabama by 10 points, and that was probably the best he could have done given the antiquated Miles’ offense he was forced to run. In addition, LSU’s offensive line only has one true tackle on it and he was playing center, because Miles only cared about running the ball. Thus, without athletic tackles on the offensive line to pass block the rush from the outside, it was impossible for LSU to stop Alabama’s speed rush with guards playing tackle. Meanwhile, who else held Alabama to just 10 points, nobody?
On the Florida loss, it was a fluke loss. If we played Florida 10 weeks in a row, we’d win 9 out of the 10 games, as we are clearly quite a bit better than Florida. The only mistake Coach O made was allowing Fournette to play while injured to give him a shot to score one more touchdown. The other mistakes are on the players, as they just didn’t make plays when they needed too. Nonetheless, Florida didn’t actually win that game, LSU gave it to them.
Meanwhile, coach O won the other five games he played. There was no way an interim head coach was going to beat Saban with Miles' antiquated offense, and even though we barely loss to Florida, it was just one of those fluke games where everything that can possibly go wrong went wrong and went wrong at the absolute worst of times.

Irrelevant, the only thing relevant about coach O’s 10-27 record at Ole Miss is if he had continued to make the same stupid mistakes while at both USC and LSU, and he clearly didn’t make the same mistakes, because like most people, with the exception of Les Miles, coach O is able to learn from his own idiotic mistakes, and that is a very good trait for a head coach to have.
