Here is how it works. If you are in the majority, you can set the law, even if it is unfair to others. If you are in a minority, you have "rights" which set the bar for how much the majority can oppress you. Human rights protect the minority from the oppression of the majority. These minority groups are concerned about oppression under the current political trends, so they are preparing to protect themselves through appeals to their rights.
This is all natural and normal.
If you take the position that they have no rights, you are a person who will be constrained by the rights of the oppressed.
