The only way I see Kiffin making a lateral move is more money-a good bit more and he's making 1.4 now-and total control of the offense.

If I'm O, I'd hire art briles right now as a consultant or assistant. Too close to the controversy right now to hire him as an OC imho. Sell him on the idea of rehabbing his image a la Kiffin/Sark.

In my opinion it's better than landing Herman. Could be huge.

So we go 10-3 next year and then Kiffin and Aranda both leave...then what?

I'm sorry for wanting the HC to be the best coach.

What if we had shelled out 6 -8 mil for Jimbo or Herman, then lost the OC and DC? We'd have less money to replace them with.

Quick - somebody bitch about something!

Whew. That was a close one. This thread really didn't have enough bitching-to-positivity ratio...

well you see, with elite head coaches, it doesn't matter who the OC/DC are...they still win

So, we should have hired Saban or Urban Meyer. Come on, man.

I don't think the Kiffin hire would be all that great. I do think there are better options

However, I do like the hire in the sens that there is finally a recognition that their needs to be a change in offensive philosophy

If that happened, I couldn't wait to see all the "fans" that turned in their "fan cards" a few days ago come running back.

Orgeron and kiffin together hasn't ever ended to well. But I guess we are supposed to get forget that just like his record at ole miss. He even got the job the same way wowing them with a notebook and getting brother Pete to vouch for him.

The thing is, it *HAS* to happen or the Orgeron hire will immediately be revealed as the horrific choice that it was. We have to absolutely go all in to get these 2 for OC and DC.

This thread could have just as easily been titled: [Peveto or some other underqualified dolt], Aranda, and Lane would be a gold mine

Orgeron is not the lynch pin in this "gold mine" equation.

btw, if 5-star local LB Chris Allen keeps his commitment to Bama, what does that say about what Orgeron brings to the table? In case you don't get it, a recruit loving Orgeron as a position coach under Miles does not equate to a recruit loving Orgeron as the HC. Different dynamics completely.

We were told we would hire someone that could compete and be on the same level as them

And, btw, how confident are you with Alleva pulling the strings that we will go all in? I'm fully expecting him to tell Aranda that his fweelings are hurt that Aranda is back at the negotiating table and telling Aranda to hit the road if he wants. This is how Alleva operates. Personal ego comes first, LSU second.

This is 100% correct. Hedging your bets on there always being a top-flight coordinator available & willing is foolish. The HC sets the philosophy for the program. The coordinators work within those constraints. Why do you think saban's guys are constantly getting hired away? He doesn't have a knack for always getting the best guys; he molds them into greatness.

Well then let them hire you to be both the OC & DC at the same time. It doesn't matter right? That way when you f*ck it all up and the entire fan base knows it's all your fault, they can take turns repeatedly beating you with a sack full of rocks. Sounds like a plan. Get in there and show 'Em what you've got.
