Thanks for the ..possibly inadvertent... honesty.
What is your honest opinion of Israel and their actions and position in the Mid East?

You seem like a real douche.

My honest opinion? Israel is nothing special. We should stop sending them, and EVERYONE else money and let them sort out their own problems and face their own consequences. There is no strategic justification for our butt buddy alliance. It is the product of a very strong lobbying and propaganda machine that has taken hold in the so-called conservative spectrum of American politics, largely through Israeli and Jewish influence in the evangelical christian community.
People like Huckabee. People who are too biased to be an ambassador to that country. He is supposed to represent US interests, not Israeli interests. Believe it or not, those two things are not the same and never will be. Someone who believes that god chose the Jews above all other people, and god gave them that land thousands of years ago, and that god will initiate an apocalypse when the worlds armies descend on Israel, has ZERO business working for the interests of the US government.
I think that our alliance with Israel, and the concomitant operations conducted with them and in support of their political desires have greatly tarnished our image with the rest of the world and the region. I think that it paints an enormous target on our back when we pump billions of dollars to BOTH SIDES of the conflict there, and it makes it impossible to truly reason with either side when defending US interests. I think we are at a much lower risk of terrorism when we politically detach ourselves from the region, not just Israel, but Iraq, and Syria, and Iran, and Afghanistan, and Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. And yes, that mean pulling out of places that actually give the US military significant capability, like the ARAB states of Qatar, Saudi, Kuwait, and the Turkish state.
