Very few will be against it, so very little ED will be necessary

Nope. I'd think that the majority of the landowners will be glad to see it.

It's literally a wall on the border. Do easements and compensate them for it. Eta: or something... not sure if easement is the correct word here.

Mexico is gonna pay those ranchers a shite-ton for the use of the edge of their property

Most want the wall due to the violence of drug runners, sex slave trafficking, terrorists, etc. One guy built a tower attached to his house just to keep an eye on his southern property line.
The country has to be secured and the good of the many outweighs the good of any few dissenters.
They will be paid and a wall won't take up that much space.
MAGA!

I just wonder if any of the owners will say, "hell, you build the wall and you can have the land". Patriotic kind of thingy.

What source do you have to the contrary?

ED is intended for things like this. It's what it's for. So no, I have no problem with it.

The existing wall that required a lot of ED

Do you honestly think a rancher who is dealing with thousands of illegals trespassing on his land will care if the government needs to take a few acres to build a wall to keep them out?

Getting the ranchers to allow a wall is going to be akin to getting your kids up on Christmas morning..

It's been a long time, maybe 15 years, but 60 mins did a piece on building a wall. I seem to remember a lot of ranchers down there especially the ones right on the Rio Grande that were opposed to it because essentially the wall would cut off their access to the river.
Since then I think a lot of them have changed their tune due to the drug cartels, but I remember thinking it was interesting at the time. A point of view I had never thought of.

Does that change anyone's opinion or are you still cool with it?
It's really not up to us. In terms of ED it's up to the federal government and the land owners. The land owners are protected by the 5th amendment. They will be justly compensated.
Most of the land owners will be fine with the wall. However there will be a couple of hold outs, as there always are, that will garner all the media attention.

Hell, build the wall on their property and tell them that they are welcome that illegals are no longer crossing over onto their property. If I were the property owner, I'd be thrilled.
