You talking Hacksaw Ridge?
If so, I'm sure its because of how bad the trailer is.
Yeah, I was talking about Hacksaw Ridge. The trailer isn't good, but the media has no reason to praise Mel Gibson at all, so I am inclined to take these reviews genuinely.

Well according to you if I dont think apocalypto and passion of the christ are good then I have bad taste in movies. Gotta love historically inaccurate films with stale storylines overcompensated with copious gore.

"A touchy-feely...."movie? You really have no idea what this movie is all about. Sorry if the true story of a real American hero...he received the Medal of Honor for saving 75 of his buddies..comes across as touchy/feely
It does come across as touchy-feely.

Hating Gibson for his beliefs, expressed while drunk or not, is stupid when you consider all the flaming assholes in Hollywood whose movies shadow their flaming liberal beliefs. Remember the big shot who spoke out against the police & in favor of BLM? His movies pack them in because of their violence. Yet Gibson is hated for something that happened yrs ago.
I am not anti-Mel.

Well it's not that you think that they're not good, but that they suck. Please provide me some other reason they suck besides historical inaccuracy. I don't really care about that.

Historically inaccurate gore films are just what hollywood needs.
I don't necessarily care how accurate they are. He is still one of the better storytellers alive right now.

Did you hate Braveheart because it was exaggerated and not historically accurate?
It's definitely heads and shoulders better than Apocalypto and Passion of the Christ. At least he gets the setting and costume correct. Apocalypto portrays Mayans in Aztec garb at an Aztec temple performing Aztec rituals (mass human sacrifice). Hey at least it's entertaining though!

He doesn't though.
Princess Isabelle (played by Sophie Marceau) was but a child during the events of William Wallace's rebellion, and thus would not have had sex with him. She was also in France throughout this whole period. And the costumes worn by the Scots (the kilts) were not introduced in Scotland for another 500 years.

Banal characters, plot and storyline. The Last Temptation of Christ is at least a pretty interesting spin on the story of Jesus and original. Passion of Christ is an unrealistic piece of shite geared toward Christian sheep that want to see a gore piece. Just a regurgitated story of Easter with some CGI blood added in.
Apocalypto could be argued as "original", but the plot of chasing a guy through the jungle for 60 minutes leaves much to be desired as a viewer. Entertaining - sure, but zero character development. Just a high production B-level horror/action film with a gory study into torture and death.

The movie never claims to be based on a true story. Historical inaccuracies only bother me in movies like Pearl Harbor
It's a movie about a man trying to get back to his wife and kid.

And my two most trusted YouTube reviewers really liked Hacksaw Ridge:
Chris Stuckmann - A
Jeremy Jahns - Awesometacular

Again, this movie may be unreal, but whoever made those trailers should be fired immediately.
this....seeing Garfield soccer punt a grenade made me think this was an awful piece of crap the studio was trying to hide. I was surprised when I heard Gibson was behind it.

yeah man I don't see how you could possibly enjoy Braveheart with these types of inaccuracies in there!

Braveheart was very entertaining. I enjoyed it very much and it is definitely among my Top 5 favorite movies of 1995. But the movie shouldn't be watched for its accurate depiction of William Wallace's rebellion, because it is not an accurate depiction. Far from it. It's probably among the Top 5 most historically inaccurate films of all-time.
I was also responding to the person who said that Gibson got the costumes and setting of Braveheart correct. That is very debatable.

I usually go into "historical" films without researching. After I've seen the movie and enjoyed it as a film, I'll check out to see how accurate it was. That way I'm not watching Invincible and thinking, "Wait... he didn't go to a cattle-call tryout. Papale played semi-pro and in the WFL and had a private tryout with Vermeil. I can't enjoy this shite."

Saw an advanced screening last night. It was a great film.

Not even close, he was off by 500 years on the costumes.

I'm honestly surprised at the split opinion on this board towards this movie.
And for a movie nobody that is posting has actually seen.
(Except for robbiesqp)
But what Desmond Doss did is incredible, and Apocalypto was a great movie so I'm on board to see it.

I'm honestly surprised at the split opinion on this board towards this movie. Given the story, the war scenes, and Mel Gibson, I figured it would be more appealing to most people on this board.
You shouldn't be. This is a very right leaning board and a movie about a guy who refused to carry a gun while in the army is not going to viewed favorably by many here no matter how well it's made or how amazing the story is.
