Honest question: Is the inept quarterback play of Brandon Harris due to his own ineptitude, or is it the end result of Les Miles' approach to coaching quarterbacks? Harris has a lot of physical tools at his disposal and should be able to play at a higher level, but I wonder how differently he would perform under the new leadership now coaching the offense.

I am very happy with Danny Etling's QB play, but if he should get injured could we expect better QB play from Harris under the new coaching regime?

I've got to think that the mere fact that we won't be hilariously predictable will make him a better QB. That's not to say he won't still have accuracy or decision-making problems, but not telegraphing our plays can make any QB look better.

Harris' tools or his past performance aren't what will keep him off the field. His attitude will

It has been mentioned here before and find and ask any former player and they'll tell you the same thing. BH doesn't have it between the ears. He has all the tangibles of an awesome QB minus the being able to decipher and make critical game time decisions. Not a knock on him, just might take another season to get use to it.

I would love to think that Brandon's only problem was coaching. However, overthrowing wide open receivers, not going through progressions appear to more on him than the coaches.

I highly believe that if Etling wasn't here, Ensminger would have actually gameplanned for Harris instead of forcing him to run a system

It is now my opinion that under Miles, not only could LSU not develop QBs, they couldn't evaluate them either. I have the utmost confidence in the current staff, and am quite convinced that the best QB on our roster is starting, and that if he were to get hurt, there would be a drop off in production.

BH has had tons of trouble handling the pressures of game day. That and Les' play calling & coaching was a disaster for him. We may have to count on him this season. If we do, I'd love to see him turn all that around.

Harris situation reminds me of Jeremy Johnson from AU... both have physical tools but they just don't have the confidence to be starters. Both were playing in schemes that didn't fit them.

There is no question Harris would benefit from better playcalling. However, when Etling played under Miles, his performance was night and day from Harris. Harris' woes aren't all on the old regime.

Harris has all the physical tools. Not sure he has the other tools required, though.

Ready topic... Everything else disregarded

Do people not realize that when Etling came in under Les that our offense instantly became better. Miles wasn't holding Brandon back, Brandon was holding himself back. He had his chances and now if need be, as in Etling gets injured, Brandon will hopefully be ready to go. But other than that no chance he gets another chance after how much Danny changes this offense.

Obviously O thinks Etling is the better qb. I don't think he's said three words about BH since he took over

I doubt he plays better until he gets a system designed for a single read...he cannot run zone read...scan progressions for multiple receivers...get the play in ..called...to the line and make pre-snap and post -snap reads....you are asking for a miracle....he got by on speed..a big arm...and wide open receivers...those days are gone

BH would be better under a system that plays to his skill set. LSU's offensive system is not the right system for BH, whether under Miles or Orgeron. LSU runs a pro style offense and that offense works best with a pocket passer. Harris is not a good pocket QB and not that accurate. He'd be a lot better off playing from the shotgun in a spread/read option type offense. Better fit for him. Never really understood why Miles was always after running QB's when he ran a pro style offense

t is 50 / 50, but I don't think he would be any better under Coach O because his problems will take time to fix. He came in to LSU as a raw QB but Miles never improved his accuracy or decision making. Worse yet, thanks to Les Miles' poor recruiting and idiocy as a head coach we were left with no QB options and Harris had to play as a true freshman and start as a true soph.

Harris needed development and Les couldn't provide it. To make things worse, Harris acted as if he didn't need any development coming into LSU and had a group of fans who thought the same thing.

Competent coaches scheme to their players strengths, which Miles/Cameron did not. Look at how Saban/Kiffin call plays for Hurts who is a true freshman. Hurts is not an accurate QB but has a strong arm and runs the zone read efficiently. Harris was recruited by OSU,FSU,Bama,LSU,etc.....there is no way that all of these programs misjudged what his skills are. Plain and simple it's Miles and Cameron who failed this kid....hopefully the next coaching regime can help him.
