Personally, I can't stand cabbies. Never liked them.

Cab drivers complain about Uber all day long but they don't do anything about it to help their situation.

Their business is about to be a dinosaur and they still allow their drivers to drive like shyt and act like a-holes.

i like it as an example of how governmental regulation and intrusion into the market creates inferior, more expensive, and less adaptive products

Aside from the technology, Uber rides are becoming more and more cab like in my experience. They should really start policing driver conduct and car quality.

I love it. Cabbies are usually assholes.

I've had a lot of cabbies take longer routes to try to over charge me.

The accountability of uber and lift make them better

No, but it's their own fault. Cabs are dirty and nasty.

They are going to be extinct anyway once self-driving cars become common.

This gives them a headstart to figure something else out.

If you're ever around kemah texas and have to use a cab, Pepe was a great cab driver. I tried to use uber but the app wouldn't take my card.

Yes. The NOLA drivers are primarily scum. I've been stuck in the city more than a few times during big events because they didn't want to bring me to people's houses in Lakeview or Metairie.
They fought every push to make them clean up their cars and to accept credit card.
And those Assholes drive like idiots going to and from the airport

No because Uber in Baton Rouge has been on a decline for the last year. If Uber was as good in BR as it is in a city like San Francisco, I would take pleasure in it

in st.louis, yes

it can be impossible to get a cab in st.louis many times in the night. It should be easy as frick to get one, but these assholes will decline stops, refuse to take stops, etc.

best thing for St.Louis was for the Ubers and company to come in. Now, the cabbies are fighting for trips.

Yes. Every time I used to take a cab while in a different city I felt like I was always dealing with someone who was trying to rip me off. Then they would noticibly get pissed when I'd try and pay with a credit card.

Yes. Was living in Buck's County PA, right outside of Uber/Lyft'/ range. The cab company fricking blew. They once told me someone would be there between 15 minutes and 3 hours. Shows up in 2 hours. It's what they deserve for treating customers like shite.

Absolutely.

I'm sure it's similar in other cities, but when DC cabs were forced to start accepting credit and debit cards, the cabbies intentionally broke their card readers so that payment via card couldn't be accepted. Once you'd try to pay by card, they'd say they needed cash, and would do shite like say they needed to drive you to an ATM before the ride could end.

While it was easy to get out of having to pay if their machines weren't working, it was the case for every 2/3 cabs I'd take before Uber came along. Now they're all happy to take card and don't complain at all. They'll still pull shite like intentionally taking you longer routes, though, so frick them.

Uber is hurting the cab companies and owners (who have all colluded with local govt), not the driver workforce per se. They are creating tons of driver jobs, after all.

There have been signs though of Uber becoming taxilike.
