Do you support a foreign club? If so, and correct me if I'm wrong because I certainly may be, but I'm assuming you don't have any ties with the area based off of your profile information.

A plastic fan is one whose allegiance to a team is not determined by geography or family ties.
This term is ridiculously overused on this board, especially when the majority of posters are and have always lived here in the States.

Well if you must know, my dad's foreign and has supported United since the 60s. My Godparents are from Lancashire. I was brought up a United fan all my life and have watched them for as long as i can remember.
I was referring to the entire City organization as being plastic. They have no history and no tradition to speak of. They were a retirement club for prem players until their Arab cash injection.
United built their success through promotion of youth, great managers and a great fanbase. None of those things could have ever been said about City pre 2008. They are ahollow club without a soul that can't sell out their own stadium for Champions League matches. Hence the Plastic label.
