run D? offense? I know the season is new but what kind of team are they supposed to be? the last time we played they ran very effectively against us and, for a time, slowed us down.

I believe they are a run first team.

Matt Forte plays for the Jets

They are a big ten team so run defense and run the ball set up PA. Basically what we do with less talent but maybe better control or discipline on both sides of the ball.

Run offense and run defense and historically really good offensive lines.

so they match up well with us. i honestly think this will be a close game but if our Dline can hang and we don't give the game away we'll win it.

We are almost mirror images of each other as far as how we play, especially since we pretty much just implemented their Defense.
The main difference is we have noticeable better players this season. If we do lose we got outcoached, which would be tough to swallow bc we just took their best coach

I think we win and I support miles.
You can have a better gamelan week one for what your opponent comes in with though. Doesn't mean you are the better coach just won that chess match.
This years LSU roster losing to this years Wisconsin roster would be very tough to blame on anything else IMO.
Where do they have an advantage personnel wise? If this were any of the previous 4 UW teams against any of the previous 4 LSU teams I think a couple bad bounces it's anyone's game. Not this season though
Put the shoe on the other foot. If miles left for Wisconsin last season and beat us Saturday with what they have returning to what our new guy inherited you couldn't do anything but give him props and say he outcoached us.

I watch film on them and I honestly feel like they are a poor mans LSU.
They play tough hard nosed defense and try and run the ball down your throat.

I agree. Just like LSU under Miles minus the Steele/Malveto years

Let me preface this by noting that I expect LSU to win the game.
That said....
On offense, Wisconsin runs the football. Typically the OL and RB's are very good. Last year due to injuries and youth the OL was a total cluster****. Add to that, Corey Clement, who we expected to be a potent workhorse basically missed the entire season with a weird sports hernia injury.
We won ten games and beat USC in the Holiday Bowl due to combination of easy schedule, good defense, and IMO a good HC in Paul Chryst who understands that you need to make adjustments based on the personnel.
On defense, the Badgers have a lot of depth and talent at LB and DL. Safety and CB is a question mark, but reports out of camp are encouraging. Naturally, playing in the B1G means you need to stop the run and the Badgers have typically been pretty good at that.
I feel like we've always been vulnerable to the Big Play, especially mobile QB's who throw a good deep ball.
Wisconsin is smart, physical, and well-coached. Lots of ex-Badgers in the NFL including several former walk-ons attest to the skill of the staff transforming 3-star kids into outstanding college football players.
I'd prefer to be playing somebody else this week, though, lol.... Probably only five or six teams in the country that can hang with you guys. We are most likely not one of them.

Your fan base is a lot like ours though. Passionate fans that love your team, your beer and your food. I feel like I could really get along with the Badger fans

Every fanbase has it's share of loud-mouth, delusional blockheads.
But I think Badger fans, on the whole, are probably better-informed and more realistic than some of our B1G rivals.
I should have also noted in my previous post that Wisconsin's admission standards are comparatively strict. If a kid couldn't get into a respectable state school irrespective of football, he can't get admitted at Wisconsin.
That's not to say our scholarship athletes could get into Wisconsin if they weren't football prospects. Even DIII schools will bend the rules for a kid who can play football.
I don't know that this is a detriment, though. Five star players from Texas aren't going to Wisconsin, anyway. Might as well recruit the bright, coachable in-state players who are overlooked but can be developed. It's worked for us. We've gotten some really good kids out of Ohio, New Jersey, and other states because they came from a smaller HS, or like Ron Dayne, fit our system in a way that wasn't true at Michigan or LSU.

Good posts guy.
The biggest factor in this game will be speed. Wisconsin has too many white boys to hang with a top end SEC team. Not being racist, just realistic.
With all due respect, prepare yourself for a hugely disappointing opener... This LSU team is loaded and hungry.
Here's hoping both teams stay healthy.

Yeah... And add to that the obvious need to put ten guys in the box which puts our untested DB's on a island.
It's a net negative that you guys have Aranda on your sideline, but perhaps less so in our case since our coaches and players know his schemes and tendencies firsthand.
Wishful thinking maybe. I mainly just want to see some gleam of hope that we can survive our deadly schedule and end up with 8 or even 9 wins.
