Did you ever just get tired of gaming?

Always played growing up. Gameboy, PS1/2/3, Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Wii, etc. Online, offline, you name it. Used to link gameboys and play Pokemon. Even played online before we had WiFi.
I don't know, somewhere along the way I just lost interest. I haven't played in probably 2-3 years, regularly (more than once a month), but I want to try to get back into it with the newest Madden. I think the last game I played a lot was Left For Dead 2.
Anyone else gone through a similar phase? What got you back into gaming?

Not for that long but I definitely get burnt out and take breaks from time to time.

I've been playing since the Atari days and still haven't gotten tired of it.

What a fun co-op game. Miss Valve making titles.
I think we all have times where gaming doesn't seem as fun. We all have personal preferences for certain types of games and they do not always have great games in that genre out year round. Since MMOs have died out i've found it hard to game all the time. Only 2-3 titles per year really suck me in. Last year it was Witcher 3 and FO4 modding. This year DOOM started but is too short of a title.
We all get this way. Then a title comes along that grabs you for weeks straight as a reminder why you love gaming.

I don't get this statement.

I take week or longer breaks about every other month. Sometimes I quit for 3 months. Sometimes I play all day two days in a row. Very much happens in spurts for me.

Stopped playing when I first married and was starting a career. Probably stayed out of gaming for 4-5 years.
Stopped after Sega Genesis. Started back up when MGS1 was released on the PlayStation. Didn't even know WTF a PlayStation was with its fancy CDs instead of cartridges. When I found out the game was coming out, I bought a PS that day and left it in the box by the TV. Wife was pissed I spent money on it. Then when the game released, I played and she watched the entire time. I was hooked.
I was still a casual, but followed the PS into the PS2 and played a ton of games. Burned out and quit gaming again. Multiple factors...kid, deployments after 9/11 got nuts. Just had more important stuff to do. Didn't get a PS3 until 4 or 5 years after it came out. Anytime I thought about jumping in, the games just didn't interest me. Did a little PC gaming, but not anything hardcore. Think the only games I still had were Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate
Turning point that brought me back was my daughter getting older and becoming a bit of a gamer. She's a giant Zelda nerd and I would hear her get frustrated playing, so I'd go help her. Went from there and I was hooked again. Pretty heavy into gaming now; both of us.

I get tired very often but I switch it up to keep things fresh. I'll switch from ps4 to pc strategy.
I do play a lot but that's because I always play when I'my watching Netflix or listening to a podcast or something so the game will be a secondary issue.
On a sideboard, that has left me with intense impressions connecting random movies, shows, and podcasts to gaming levels.
Like I connect Perfect Dark with Gladiator.
I connect level 6 of Star Wars Jedi Knight Dark Forces 2 with The Man in the Iron Mask.
And I connect the forest level in Bllodborne with the Ancient Warefare podcast.

I don't think I played a single video game in 2014, but got back into it in 2015. It's a great time killer.

My tastes change. Growing up, I played a lot of fighting games like Street Fighter and Tekken, but I hate playing competitively online so most fighting games only hold my attention for a few days tops. From 2004-2013 I played MMORPGs almost exclusively.
Found out later on that there were so many good games and game series's that I missed out on.
Since then, I like a game with a good story that I can play through, beat, then move on to something else. Outside of sports games, games that don't have a clear end don't interest me as much as they used to, and I get bored of MMORPGs pretty quickly.

I've been on the decline for the past 3 years. It usually picks up around the CoD days. I'm really looking for CoD4 to change that this year though. :fingerscrossed:

2015 I almost quit. Life was starting to pick up for me with college and a job, I just didn't have interest outside a few games of 2k here and there. As good at Madden 16 as I am, I was terrible at madden 15. The only games i really get sucked into are sports games and fps. I'm afraid to play Witcher 3 because it looks so good
Then I got really good at BF4 whenever I'd play it. I could go a week or two without playing, then I'd play a whole weekend. I got as high as top 500 in head shots/kill ratio.
I got sucked back into gaming with Madden 16 and once I got bored of that, 2K did the job and finished it off. I was hooked all over again.

I grew up playing n64, PlayStation, halo and various RPGs. I believe right after I played final fantasy 13 (2011 I think) is when i was in my college prime and started to lose interest other than playing the occasional madden game against a buddy. However, last year I decided I needed to find something to occupy my time on my off days other than drinking and decided to start gaming again. Got an xbone last December and have thoroughly enjoyed it
However, I can't just jump right into another game after I finish one. I just finished witcher 3 last month after 150 hours of gameplay and decided to take a break and get caught up on several tv series until FF15 comes out. I did buy FF1 for my phone though to play at work if you want to count that lol

Yes, and then I got Starcraft 2 in 2010 and that started me on a whole new kick!

I had a few years between the later years of gen 1 Xbox and PS2 and GameCube until the late Xbox 360, PS3 generation when I didn't play at all. Picked it back up with friends not long before the current gen came out and now I'm back to my old ways of playing for an hour most days, though I've never been one for banging out 6+ hours on a lazy weekend

I didn't play for a couple of years and then randomly started logging a ton of hours on Modern Warfare 2. That and BLOPs are really what got me back into it. I've been on hiatus for a few months now but am pretty excited for BF1 release.

I dont game a ton. it ussually takes a really good rpg or something like an fps where I can play with friends. I go back and forth between xbox and pc. I spend about a month on each, but I really only game for about 5 hours a week max.

Pretty much like everyone had said. I've gone through phrases. I used to sit and play for Hours on Cod.
Now gaming just doesn't seem worth it. I view a game as either not enough content to even start playing or as being too big of a game to dive into it.
I know each are just excuses I use for myself not to play. I have a 13 month old though. I got back into it while he was 3-10 months cause I work nights and watch him during day. But now that he is all over the place most of my time is spent playing with him.
